Question about 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee

2 Answers

There is a digital screen on the console; it shows the time and the miles till your next servicing; however, I had a servicing and the battery was unhooked, now it just blinks at me and I cant figure out how to reset it. I tried pushing the two buttons on it ''set'' and ''select'' (I think thats what they say) and nothing happeneds. Now I drive down the road in the dark and I keep being distracted by this blinking time that isnt correct. And its really bright when driving at night. Also when I turn the car on it beeps at me (after about 30 seconds) telling me its time for a servicing.

Press and hold the SET button and the hour will flash press set again to select the hour you want and press SELECT to advance to the minute, month, day, etc. When you are done just press select until it stops blinking. To reset the oil service change mileage, press select to get to the mileage left and press and hold set and it will reset to determined interval. I hope this helps you.

1st put your car in park turn it off press and hold in the speed odometer button keeping it in turn the ignition key in this sequence run to off to run to off to run you are then going to see a sequence of numbers ex. 1111111,22222,33333,44444,55555,666666,7777,8888,99999 the gauges should go thru a sequence check as well you will see it while those numbers are flashing after you see the 99999 pay very close attention and have your ink pen or pencil and paper ready to write down the error code(s) it's going to say P and a number(s) these are you cars error codes beginning with P then it going to say done (good thing you need to see done )do this only once and follow instructions exactly then fix those codes lookem up after repairing codes unplug battery for 5 minutes and replug this resets your computer check ingine light should be flashing (good thing) drive car for 50 to 200 miles it should go away if all codes were fixed if not check ingine light will remain solid until you do so if you cant get your error codes this way then why not trying your local dealer that may be covered under your bumper to bumper warranty there is a digital screen on the console; it shows - 1ak+f4pj7cbm32cuniyi2gaaaaaelftksuqmcc

Just made a 300 mile roadtrip with no problem. The next next time I started the truck, the engine light was on. Can I drive 300 miles home with it on? It is not time for oil change, and there are no leaks...

I would take it to autozone or another major parts store they can scan it for codes to see if there is something wrong. I have a car that the service engine light comes on, and there isn't anything that anyone can find wrong

Hello i have a 2001 jeep cherokee and the gauges were it tells me how many miles till empty is says preform service... so what kind of service does it need?

I expect your vehicule is equipped with an EVIC (electronic vehicule information center (overhead console). Different functions and displays should be described in depth in your owner manual.
I'm not 100% familiar with your console type but I expect that you get that particular message when the specific value YOU have determined as the being the threshold before your next maintenance interval (in regard to the millage) has been reached. The normal reading of the millage 'distance to service' before next maintenance should decrease until it reachs 0 then triggers the perform service alert message. Once your maintenance is done you should be able to reset the counter which will start a new count from the specified target value.
Based on usual EVIC operation mode I would try the following procedure to reset it.

- Turn your ignition swith on
- press step console button at repetition until you get the service interval display
- then press the reset button for few seconds
Hoping I'm telling right and that it will help

My 2007 paficia perferom service light keeps coming on and i already had a oil change it only has 60,000 miles and I was told it is not time for a tune up. why the light will not stop popping up?

Change the service interval on the menu button on the dash. Scoll through the menu till you get to the service miles hit the step button until you reach the next desired service miles. Then press the menu button once it will ask u reset service hit the step button twice this will reset the perform service light. Hope this helps please rate if it does.

I just bougt a BMW 630 teher is no manual book in

my '06 325i, has been serviced (oil changed) by the dealer every 17,000 miles, it runs a full synthetic oil. look at your tun signal switch there should be a small knob in it that rotates, rotate it up and look at the center dash, keep rotating until it says oil then push the switch in the end of the turn signal switch it should then show you how many miles till next oil change, all service info can be found in this manner, when some kind of service is due you will see a small triangle with and exclamation point (!) in it on the center display, if you have a navi system the bottom of the screen will say "Service Due!"

With the key in position 1, hit the odometer reset button on the left on the cluster 3 times in a row. The cluster should beep once. scroll through the multifunction display with the page buttons until the display shows the onboard voltage screen. It will say something like "UB: 12.2 V" scroll threw this menu with with the up/down until you reach the "service menu" page. scroll down to "confirmation" press +, confirm full service with +. Wait till it says service confirmed. cycle the key off and then back on to position 2. Scroll to the normal service menu where it normally says how many days or miles till next service. If the service was reset correctly, it will say "service display not possible" for a few minutes while it recalculates. You must cycle the key off and back on before it will back out of the onboard diagnostic mode. If you dont back out, the esp/abs/bas lights will illuminate when the car is started
