Question about Porsche Boxster

1 Answer

The plastic window in our 2001 Porsche Boxter S has sustained multiple cracks from aging plastic. We think we can replace the plastic if we can find a manual that describes how to remove and re-install the convertable top. We don't have the 100 bucks for the Bently manual. I can't seem to find a used one on Ebay and the library doesn't have this book. Any suggestions?

2000 Porsche boxter windows work top won't go down

Good Day,
I just looked at my wiring diagram and see that a fuse from fuse Holder D, Fuse D3,it is a 30amp fuse. I would start here. I may also be a good idea to have a test light if you plan on doing your electrical repairs.

I also see that another fuse connects to your top control unit; it will be fuse B6, 15amp located in fuse Holder B.

Thanks and good luck.

How do i get the front brake assembly off to replace the pad on a 2001 porche boxter

I found you a full color pictorial that will show you step by step how to remove the front brake assembly. Also, I would recommend changing the rotors while you have it apart, to prevent and brake pulsing after you replace the pads. I am not sure but I don't think you can machine Porsche rotors as the metal is too soft. if the rotors are lipped and you have a hard time removing the assembly after you remove the bolts, use a good screwdriver to wedge the pads away from the rotor, this will loosen the pad and allow you to remove the assembly. Can the plastic window in a 2001 Porsche Boxter be replaced without replacing the top. The top is in excellent condition

Well of course the top is in excellent condition.

The plastic fades and uv rays killed it. Porsche hasn't figured out how to sew glass in there so they make you buy the whole assembly.

U think you bought toyota or honda didn't you. wait till the window actuator fails.

a lot more money!

2001 porsche boxter engine running hot

My 2000 Boxster developed a pin hole leak in the coolant reserve tank in the rear trunk. The trunk floor is actually raised, which allowed the coolant to go unnoticed, since the carpet never got wet. I would pull back the carpet on the side and see if there is coolant in the trunk area. If so, the plastic reserve tank will run you about $300 for the part. It is a bit of a pain to replace, but something the average home mechanic can do. Only real hassle was the hose clamps in the engine bay were installed before the engine, hence the engine was in the way of the screw head.
