Question about 1991 Nissan 300ZX

Engine misfire :(

Ive got a rb26dett engine that shakes on idle, and ive been told by a number of people that im misfiring. I unplugged the coilpacks one at a time and the engine responded by shuddering untill i unplugged the coil on the cylinder closest to the firewall. The engine ran no differently if that coil was disconnected or not. I swapped it with a different coil and it didnt solve it, so the coils are good. I checked the wiring harness and grounds, they seemed ok as well. This has become quite frustrating and i don't know where else to turn, any help would be appreciated
thanks in advance.

hey, it turned out as i was testing/inspecting my injectors, i found that the plug on the injector that was with the misfiring cylinder wasn't clipped in. It was just sitting on top! Once i clipped it in the engine instantly went sound! now she purrs, its like a whole new car. way more fuel efficient and 50+ more hp. I was going to sell the thing but now im having 2nd thoughts... haha thanks for the follow-up

Put a vacuum gauge on the engine, the needle should fluctuate back and forth, take a timing light and instead of putting on the number one plug put it on the plug wire with the problem.point the light at the gauge if the needle looks like it is steady you have a problem with one of the valves or the cam shaft.

Truck is backfiring and missfiring.

Have the misfire diagnosed and the backfiring will be fixed also. The backfiring is caused by the "over-rich" fuel mixture in the exhaust stream and is igniting within the exhaust. Fix the misfire (which will cause the rich condition) and the backfire will be gone.

looks like that either you do have an air mass not correct working,or the throttle body is too dirty and you have to clean it.Also check for any cracked, snapped vacuum hose.

Misfire 4th cylinder

Could be the ignition coil. Also could be a compression problem. Work on the misfire then see if the bad sensor goes away.

engine shaking could be severe engine misfire due to faulty spark plugs or wires.could have faulty ignition coil.other possibles causes could have clogged fuel filter, clogged fuel injectors, fuel pump could be failing check fuel pressure should be 48 psi.

change out your distributor cap sometimes if its not pushing the right amount of current to your spark plugs it will cause a misfire it wont throw a code but will make your car vibrate violently. also check your compression and timing

hey thanks for bringing me up to speed. ive been working on many other problems but with your great explanation i remember.
we need to check the compression on that cyl. and compare it to the compression on 2 other cylinders your choice.
but before you do this get a can of carb cleaner . and with the car idling spray around the intake manifold in the area of #6 cyl. what we are looking for is a small vacuum leak that would also act like this. with the engine idling and spraying around the intake the engines idle sould not change and if it does when you spray you have an intake leaking.
let me know how it turns out.
