Doing timing on a 86 s10 blazer 4x4 2.8

I'm putting new timing gears and chain on my 86 s10 blazer 4x4 2.8. When I put the distributer in does the rotor button point to #1 plug at TDC.

So when the distributor is in and I'm standing in front of the motor and the cap is off the rotor button should point to #1 plug. Cause right now it's pointing to the fire wall and my #1 piston is TDC on compression.

I had a 86 S10 blazer and it had rubber fuel line connection by LR wheel. I put pressure gauge on hose and found it had low pressure and had to change fuel pump. You could also try changing the fuel filter. I also had a problem with the same symptoms and it turned out to be a plug wire at a different time. Just thoughts about problems I once had.

Timing is off, problem with timing chain, also check fluids in ******,plus also if you have a distributer in your vehicle,if it is cracked, moisture getting in and ruining the points,-that is if your vehicle has a distributer! This will make a vehicle run rough as well.
You can have new plugs put in,but if your spark plug wires are cracked or worn, this will also creat misfire and backfiring.

Do you have to take the distributer off to change the cam shaft senser for a 1996 chevy s10 blazer? i cant seem to get it off pass the rotor

the distributor has to be removed. Mark where the rotor is pointing. the gear on the bottom will need to be removed (roll pin) , then you can remove the shaft. be sure you mark the cam gear to put it back the same way.

Have a 1991 s10 blazer have changed plugs, distubutor cap, magmetic pickup coll, an all the parts in it have been checked, new timing chain an gears an it is still missing an backfiring could the water...

no...water pumps do not cause backfires. faulty water pumps causes overheating.

backfiring is caused by incorrect firing order. the connection of your high tension wires are wrong

Im putting timing chain on my 93 chevy s10 pickup 4.3 and there are gears behind the timing chain what do I do

first thing i would do is make sure your timing marks are lined up before removing the chain and gears,,,turn it over by hand till they line up then remove the bolts in the cam and pull off the cam gear and chain,,you will probably need to use a prybar to get the bottom gear off,,,line up your timing marks and istall the new gears and chain

4wd not engaging on 86 s10 blazer

my 86 blazer did the same thing , check the vacuum lines on top of transfer case look for one that is chaffed or cracked. Another is the shifter linkage adjust, you will need a manual as it is set with a specific drill bit size to put in for alignment. it is easier than it sounds. hope this helps you

86 blazer front wheel barrings how to ??

Hi there. If by gears you mean the splines on the end of the half shaft, you need to seperate the lower ball joint, if not done already, put the splines in the hub first and then hook the new bearing hub up to the lower control(ball joint) with the shaft already in place.
