Question about 2000 Chrysler Grand Voyager

98 plymoth grand voyager cruise control

We have a 98 grand voyager that the cruise control won't engage, is there a fuse or relay that may have gone bad, or is it worse? I have a 2000 CHRY Grand Voyager SE that the AirBag light stays on and the cruse control is not working Are there any DIYers out there that have replaced the clock spring. Is there a step by step guide on how to replace it. If so were can I find it also checked with the local dealer about a recall nothing listed for my VIN#.

Thanks,
NEEDS HELP

Not sure how the 1998 issue got added to my request for help. My vehicle is a 2000 Chry Grand Voyager SE VIN#1C4GJ44G8YB747775 and my problem is with the AIR BAG light staying on and the cruse not working. I called the local dealer to see if the vehicle issue was covered on a recall they told me no so I requested help from you. If it is not covered the solution you provided was detailed enough for me to do the repairs.

    Thank you,

    gvoightinc

the following was copied directly from the recall notice

Disconnect battery and wait 20 minutes for safety

you need to remove the air bag (3 bolts behind the steering wheel) then remove the steering wheel 1 nut but you need a puller. then the column shrouds 3 screws under the column the unplug and replace the clock spring and put it back together.

I JUST CHECKED YOUR VIN AND THE RECALL DOES APPLY. THE REASON THE OTHER DEALER SAID IT DID NOT IS BECAUSE THE RECALL HAS ALREADY BEEN DONE ON YOUR VEHICLE. THE GOOD NEWS IS THAT IT IS CONSIDERED A LIFE TIME WARRENTEE ISSUE MEANING THAT EVEN IF THE RECALL IS DONE YOUR STILL COVERED FOR A CLOCKSPRING REPLACMENT.

cruise control will not engage if the engine rpms are too low , vehicle speed is to slow
VSS unit is faulty (wiring)

The cruise control and horn do not work

It sounds like the "clock spring" in the steering wheel is bad. It makes the connections for those items on the steering wheel.

I changed the relay fuse to my windshield wipers and the knob and my wipers still wont work on my 98 plymoth grand voyager what should i check

Turn wipers on (veh in "on" or "acc" position)
Disconnect the electrical connection at the windshield wiper motor (located in the engine compartment on the fire wall) and check for voltage. If you have voltage, there is a good possibility your windshield wiper motor is bad.
You may also: Disconnect the electrical connection at the windshield motor and run a heavy gauge wire directly from the positive side of the battery to the motor. If you get the windshield motor to come on. There may be only a wiring (short) problem between the relay and the motor.

Cruise control 1998 plymouth grand voyager fuse block diagram

Hello chekon,

Thank you for choosing fixya.com. The fuse box cover should have a diagram on the back of it, which will indicate which fuse represents it's component(s). If you are unsure what any abbreviations stand for or represent, look in your owners manual, or look in a service manual for the 1998 Plymouth Grand Voyager. I also own a 98 Plymouth Grand Voyager (SE) and have a service manual for it, as well as for the 97 Dodge Caravan. My 98 has the 3.0 L engine, and I have done several maintenance requirements to it recently, so if you have any other questions, please let me know and I'll help you out.

Let me know if you need me to locate any fuses or relays for you. In the meantime, I'll do some searching online for some diagrams. Most sites charge for such items, however, if I find something I'll leave a comment with such findings.

Thank you again for choosing fixya.com.
