Question about 1999 Chevrolet Lumina

New a*c just stops all is new full of r 134 pressur ok

1999 Chevy lumina a/c will not come on. OK new compressor was put in 6 months ago good cold air ran fine. One day just stopped. went back to the a/c repair shop all they do. Had it tested. fuses fine relays fine all wiring fine. only way to get a/c to run is jump ground on relay then it will run all the time. The book says first replace the a/c/ control panel did. not it. last to replace the pcm did not it. any idea. also new high and low side sensors. and still full of r 134,

    Problem fixed. light green wire at a/c switch to the pcms number 64 pin was faulty.

Did you replace the orfice ? its like a screen device in the line near the firewall where the freon enters the dash..It also acts as an orfice which lets the freon squeeze into the car making it cold in the evaporator.. Which then is blown by your fan into the car making it cold.. I guess i didnt ask is the compressor kicking on ? or not at all. the compressor is controled by a pressure switch on the dryer .. when the system is low the compressor will not come on .. hope this helps jerry and holler if you need more ...

I just installed a new a/c compressor clutch I put the correct r-134 I put new hoses a new condenssor and accumulator . My problem is I cannot get the clutch to kick in unless I run jumpers to the...

you may have a few different problems including a defective pressure switch

when you added the "correct R-134" did you also add oil?

replacing that many parts requires additional oil

Therefore, you may not have enough "pressure"

do you have a/c gauges?
did you evac the system for at least an hour after replacing the parts?

go to the chevrolet web site and type in serial number and it will tell you.or go to your hand book and it should tell you, but on a torquespec just give it a good tighten it should be ok.adrian,,,,,

The pattern you describe is consistent with an alternator going bad. Maybe the fields are already rubbing together. Test it this way: Start the car and leave on idle, when the whine is worse, then start using up electricity, by increasing the demand. Turn on AC, then lights, then full blower and then high beams. If there is a change in the whine, then either alternator or voltage regulator is the culprit. When a compressor pulley bearing is bad, noise shifts just by turning AC on and off.

there should be a pressure sensor on the ac line itself It's a safty feture to keep you from burning up your compressor when the 134 is too low in the lines check the connectoin to it make sure that the water didnt short it out. this would be my guess if you check all the other electrical...

replace your MAP sensor(manifold absolute pressure) the map sensor is the computer for your fuel pressure regulator telling how much pressure. Unless your tahoe runs like **** going up hill than it inevitably your fuel pump

hi, it seems you have a slight problem with your compressor.( i said slight because you can still use it ) It is partially loose compression. it has leak back on the valves that is why the rpm needs to be high in order to cool.
