Question about 1997 Pontiac Grand Am
I have a question for the auto guru's I'm not sure about.
I was driving my 97 grand am the other day and it was working fine. Drove it about half an hour on the highway. Then when i got back to the city after driving for five minutes the car starting revving really high up to about 7000 rpms and the gas would not work at all. I had to pull over to the side and put it in park and then back to drive again. It seems like this is happening when the car tries to shift into third gear. I also noticed that it would happen around 35mph but if I kept it at 25 or 30 it still happened.
I think this has something to do with the transmission. But today I drove it again for about 15 minutes and it was fine. Anyone have an idea what this could be?
Your transmission cable sounds like it is binding .It is attached to the throttle body like the throttle cable. could be in the cable or in the trans were it hooks up .if it holding your peddle down the you wont have a gas peddle. i hope this helps let me know what you find!
