You have one on each manifold and one behind the catalytic converter. Un-clip the wire and use the proper box end wrench to remove the sensor, or you can by a special socket with a hole in the side to route the wire through to remove and install the sensor. They can be hard to get out spray some penetrating oil on first and let it sit for a couple of hours if you can. On one of my cars I had to buy the special socket and use a breaker bar.

Hi, I am getting Faulty codes P0036, P0056, P0141, P0161 in reference Bank 1 and Bank 2 for sensors 2 on 2003 CTS.I was told the sensors where changed but codes still appear?

If the sensors were replaced an DTC'S come back has to be a wiring problem or PCM ,
The ECM detects that the HO2S heater low control circuit voltage is between 2.6-4.6 volts when the heater is commanded OFF, indicating an open HO2S heater circuit.
Is the fuse open?
All four codes refer to the heating element circuit ! there is a relay in the under hood fuse box that supplies B+ voltage to the O2 sensor heating elements . I would change that or test the relay , videos on you tube on testing relays .

Where is O2 sensor located?

They are located on the exhaust system, one is before the catalyst and one after. If it is a v6 or a v8 it will have 4 o2 sensors. If your codes read sensor 2 it means the one after the catalytic converter.

If your vehicle has single exhaust, there are two oxygen sensors.

If your vehicle has dual exhaust, there are four oxygen sensors.

Where is o2 sensor fuse located on 2005 grand vitara

some have 4 sensors
what engine.
what country and if in calif , that too, is a country. By EPA regs.
the H25 engine is here.
got a 2.5L? v6

there are 4 sensor, 2 front , 2 rear of cat.
or can be 3, if the rear merge to 1 cat. but not this one.

the front sensors are hard to change
and the connectors , lock up backwards from all other connectors
on the car.

if you post country and engine,
anwers get better 100x.
we cant guess that.

this page covers front no rear, rear is child easy to fix.
rears only change if you get P0420s. (lazy cat errors)
the fronts control fuel mix. hot, closed loop.

Mitsubishi diamante 2003, changed two o2 sensors, still hesitates at start specially when warm

there should be 4 sensors in the system two are normal O2 sensors that are located after the cat converter and two are heated sensors HO2S sensors located before the cat converter. Use the special sensor removal/installer tool so that the wires are not damaged . If you only replace d 2 sensors then you may have missed the faulty unit. The check engine light will stay on until you reset it with a scanner

1996 grand cherokee starts fine and runs great the first 5 minutes. Then it runs like ****..doesn't completely stall but runs really rough. Like it wants to stall but doesn't. Replaced the fuel pump and...

First thing is; When you changed the fuel pump, did you compare the 2 to see if they were identicle?, because it's possible that you could have the wrong fuel pump.. Second; you should have changed the fuel filter when you changed the pump, if not? you need to put a new fuel filter on... Third... It is possible for the upper o2 sensor, because on your Jeep, you have an OBD II system, which is, ( On Board Diagnostics II) and that system uses two "o2" sensors; One before the catalytic converter and one after the converter. The Primary o2 sensor is the one before the converter; The secondary o2 sensor, or catalyst monitor, is located after the catalytic converter.
The two o2 sensors work on an "open loop and closed loop". When the motor is cold, the o2 sensors are in open loop, which means they are not being used to monitor the exhaust gas, and when the motor warms up- after 5 minutes or so, then the computer switches to "Closed loop" and the o2 sensors are then used to monitor the exhaust gasses, so it is possible that your primary o2 sensor, or the one before the catalytic converter is bad.... But! It's very rare for both o2 sensors to go out at the same time.... I hope that answers your question & gives you an idea of how the o2 sensors work in conjunction with the fuel injection system.

I wouldn't have gotten a cat. If the o2s are all replaced, then it could be an EGR valve

Oxygen Sensors out on Pontiac Grand Am 2003 V6

Your car is equipped with a diagnostic system called OBD II. You can purchase a code reader and use it to find which O2 sensor is causing the problem. You probably have 4 sensors. 2 in front of the converter and 2 behind. The code reader will indicate something like "SEN 1 BANK 1." This means O2 sensor in front of the cat. on the side of the engine that contains cylinder 1. You may see "SEN 2 BANK 1" "SEN 1 BANCK 2" "SEN 2 BANK 2" Bank 2 indicates oppisite side of No.1 cylinder. Hope this helps

Check engine light on

There are only 2 banks in the engine. That means that if it has 2 O2 sensors they may both need replaced. .....More than likeley it has 2 or more O2 sensors. They shouldn't be hard to locate.

O2 sensor where are they located

the 1996 grand only used 2 02 sensors on the 2 engine options.....the 5.2 v8 sensors are located 1 just in front of the convertor and the downstream is in the convertor....the 4.0l the downstream is in the convertor and the upstream is located in the exhaust manifold right under the intake manifold.
