Digital dash blow's fuses

Dash doesnt work put a fuse in and it blow's it but use a piece of metal and they work but smell smoke.

    are u trying to burn the car to the ground?? don't do that thing with the metal in te fuse.

My wh statesman keeps blowing engine/bcm fuse. using bigger fuse allows it to start but blows again shortly after

Don't keep trying bigger fuses. It will only cause more problems, like burnt wiring that will need replacing, or starting a fire.
You either have an electrical component that is shorted and causing too much power draw, or you have some open wire that is shorting to ground by touching metal.
You or an electrician will need to look at a wiring diagram to see what all is on that circuit that is blowing the fuse. Then start taking one part of it loose at a time to try and isolate the problem. See any smoke or smell plastic burning when the fuse pops?

Ecm fuse blows when putting it in 2001 isuzu

Probably a short in the wiring for the ecm. I suppose it could be the ecm itself, but more likely it is a wire shorted to metal on the car. Shorts like that often leave a burnt smell where insulation on wire has melted off, often a hot spot. New fuse, watch for sparks or smoke...feel around wires and wire harness...check wires under fuse box. Hope you find it.

I was driving about 15 minutes got on a graded dirt rroad be drove 5 blocks when I turned around buzzer came on and instrument panel brake light lit uup and smoke coming from around ashtray or from dash I...

First thing I would check would be all the fuses. If everything checks out then I would inspect the wiring to the cigarette lighter and socket because that circuit has a relatively high amperage fuse. More likely to cause the smoke condition before blowing out. Next I would check all circuits that use circuit breakers instead of disposable fuses because they would reset themselves after they cool back down and work again at least until the short happens again. Look for wiring that may have fallen against or have been rubbing against metal supports or other metal parts under the dash including moving parts like the brake pedal linkage or gas pedal linkage / cables under the dash. I had a AC compressor fuse that kept blowing on a new car at random back in the late 80s. Turns out the wiring harness had fallen down on the gas pedal linkage and would touch the metal linkage and short out only when the compressor was on, the gas pedal was pressed down to a specific position and the car ran over a dip or large bump while driving. Took the dealership several tries to finally find the problem.

Crown victoria year 2000 i was driven n all power was working i put my charger piece in the bottom ryte passenger side outlet i smelled smoke n then the dash n headlights n dome light didnt work only radio...

My guess is you overloaded the circuit on accident and fuses have been blown, pop the covers off the fuse panel and start replacing your fuses. There should be a guide there on the cover to help navigate to the right fuses

Eec fuse blowed while driving and blows each time replace it

must have a short to earth ,would'nt advise using wire no matter what the situation,trace the wires and find a break or worn part , might be rubbing against a metal edge somewhere

2002 Century tail lights failed. Bulbs OK. Blew fuse. It sparks at fuse when putting in a new one. Then .. dash lights went out Can it need a new fusebox?

I do not believe you need a new fuse box, I think your have a short or ground issue at where the fuse is. But before we jump to that, let me explain what is most likely going on here. The tail lights are hooked on a system together , where it runs up to where your fuse of course is blowing. Now, even though you say your bulbs are working, what happens is, sense there is a fuse for those bulbs, is the good thing it is operating proper, in the fact of when there is a problem with this circuit ( tail lights to fuse) that it blows the fuse, rather than a fire or melting of wires. Your dash lights are part of same circuit of your talking about running light problem and dash lights. Blinkers and Break lights are on different fuse circuit.

Ok, now that i have explained the mumble jumble mechanical talk, here is what it could be,

When your tail lights are blowing fuses, and it sparks some at fuse box can be only a few things to check out.

Number one, trace wires, especially off fuse box, as well as where they go into the tail lights. This blowing of fuse can be caused by a short in the main power supply into the lights and or a ground that is touch the hot wire. It only takes just a small strand of the hot wire hitting a piece of metal and shorting it out, which would for sure cause fuse to blow and if this hot wire is hitting a piece of metal directly it for sure will cause the fuse to spark big time, when trying to put in a new fuse. The other issue is where the fuse goes into the slot, could be bad connection, or corrosion if got wet.

I personally believe your problem is not your fuse box unless it got wet or really looks bad. I believe your problem is going to be a ground wire from the taillights, (most likely at the lights them self at rear of car) thats rubbing up the hot lead on the wire or the little prong connectors. Your tail lights have a connector on them that plug into the tail lights, check those to see if there clean and look good, if there not replace them. Auto Zone can help you to get right ones to put on to connect. Only other thing is at the rear most likely where your tail lights are is the hot lead is hitting a ground wire of piece of metal, which of course will short it out. Conclusion: I think the problem you will find is at your tail light connections of where it goes into the tail lights. This would cause exact symptoms you describe, Fuse box, i doubt as you would have lots of other issues with other controls. Thanks Mike from Fixya,

fuse #2 E7 D8 goes only at cigarrete lighter and to data link connector, remove the socket at the rear of cigarrete lighter and install fuse, change the cigarrete lighter when it is shorted or there will be a small piece of metal left inside the whole,

Short somewhere or go in dash and make sure plugs are pluged in Cluster Panal or where fuse keep blowing put a piece of there where ever the short is you should smoke.
