Remove the air cleaner and pour about a quarter cup of gasoline into the carburetor or throttle body. Do not stand near the engine when cranking it -- fire/small explosion hazard.

It means that when the gas you poured into the carb/throttle body ignites, you may hear a pop and see a small flame. This does not usually happen, but to be on the safe side don't be looking into the carburetor when the engine is cranked.

It could be a crank sensor going bad causing the stall problems

What do you mean by fill up? Ther van will not start up unless you put several gallons of gas in. last time I ran out it took close to 5 gallons before my van would fire up.

2002 CHEVY VENTURE, ran through standing water, now it starts, sputters, and stalls.

I think you should head to a mechanic. Sounds like you got water in the fuel system. You could possibly resolve the issue by filling up with a fresh tank of gas, but that could also cause more problems if there is a lot of water in there already. I'd take it to a trusted mechanic.

My 2002 chev s10 4.3 stalls at times and dont want to idle but other times it does just fine

Sounds like it would do you good to Change the filter and run some Injector Cleaner or Carburetor Cleaner through it (Depends upon your motor) It being a 2002 I would bet it is Fuel injected.

Van runs good then stalls out. then hard to start. If i let it sit for 5 minutes it starts again no problem. Then stalls again shortly there after.

This sounds like a failing camshaft position sensor and weak crank shaft sensor .When crank shaft sensor gets weak it will stop functioning. When crank shaft sensor stops working then ECM will not control fuel system and the fuel will stop flowing. And this can cause the problem. When crank shaft sensor gets heated it will stop working, but when the car shuts off, the sensor gets cold and works for few minutes and sensor again gets hot and it stalls. ---------- Get the crank shaft sensor tested on your Chevrolet venture. ---------- There are many other possibilities for this stalling problem, but crank shaft problem is indicating in your case. Stalls on streets when you start up and drive off and come to a stop then it stalls? If it does you mainy looking at a EGR failure, the EGR doesnt seat properly your fix is to replace the EGR
