Yes the key housing is worn out. Do a total replacement.

Sorry about that.

I have a 95 camaro, I put the key in ignition and it will not turn the ignition. It's like it's stuck. Replaced the ignition module and still cannot turn ignition. Help!

the ignition module (ignition switch on top of the steering column) normally doesn't get stuck.

things you can try:
steering wheel lock: (the pin gets a "burr" on it and locks everything up) wiggle steering wheel back and forth while trying to turn key.

transmission lock (parking on an incline will jam up the interlock)
push the shifter farther into park while trying to turn the key, or wiggle shifter

Key won't turn in 1998 camry

Has the key been damaged? You should make sure that the vehicle is in properly engaged in park if it's an automatic.

Ignition ley got locked. ket wont turn

I have an 2002 Escape. I can think of three possible issues:
You're using the wrong key. Duh.
You have a bad ignition switch. Extremely unlikely.
Your steering wheel is pushing against the steering lock. I just went out to my Escape to confirm this on mine. This happens sometimes if you park against a curb, or parking block. The steering wheel is pushed against the lock pin, and the key can not be turned.
Trying turning the sterring wheel back and forth. There should be some play or shake. If no play, turn the steering wheel a little harder in either direction until it moves a little, hold it, and try the key.

For the disbelievers, this can happen on most cars. Go to your car and hold some pressure on turning the steering wheel. Try turning your key from off to start.

I need to know how to change the ignition on a 95 Thunderbird LX

Contrary to the repair manual; you do not need to remove the steering wheel. Remove the bottom dash panel below the steering wheel and then the bottom black steering wheel cover (3 screws). You will see a 1/8 inch hole and pin below the lock set. Put the key lock in the neutral position and push the pin and remove the ignition lock set. Put the new lock set in the neutral position and insert it. Turn it to the off position which resets the lock pin.

The steering wheel has locked and I can't turn the key in the ignition.

Typically the steering wheel needs to pulled or pushed in the opposite direction of the lock while turning the key. Once the key is turned the steering wheel becomes free. If this is not a solution for you, I would try another key, maybe the one you are using is a bad copy or worn out. If no luck there next would be to get a key made either from the dealer or if the key code is on the door a locksmith can do it. other then that the lock cylinder in the steering column would have to be replaced.

How do you remove and replace the ignition switch in a 1995 camry?I have taken the steering wheel covers off as well as the plastic cover under the steering wheel. The key is on ACC put i can not figure...

There is probably a little hole, around 1/8" diameter, on the top of where the lock cylinder goes, it could also be on the bottom. Get something long and skinny and poke it in that hole, there is a release button in there. At least that's how it is on the majority of the vehicles I've changed cylinders on.

Need to replace the 1995 toyota corolla ignition lock cylinder

You need to pull the plastic covers from above and below the steering wheel off. Then put your key in the ignition and turn it to the acc position, then there is a small button either on the top or bottom of the tumbler assembly, it will be inset and you will need a small pointy screwdriver or something to reach it. When you push the button the ignition assembly and the key will come out together

My toyota camry 1995 key switch won't turn. i am able to use the key to open the doors and the trunk but when trying to start the ignition it will turn 1/4 and won't start.

I have had this problem. There could be a few reasons. ONE. The key itself is worn out...might be time for a replacement. Its amazing how fast that actually happens... TWO my brother who also has the same 95 camry as i do [in another color] had too much weight on his key chain [with all his other keys and twrinkets] for so long that it caused the ignition switch inside to pull down and not line up correctly inside. Which caused the key to only turn partway in the ignition and stop before the car could actually turn on. [He had to replace that part] I hope this has helped.
