I have a 2001 Pontiac grad Am and my security

turn the key to the run position. do not go to crank. leave the key on for 10 minutes and the system should reset.
Here's the "fix" I just did for my 99 tahoe. Took the cover off the steering column, unplugged the sensor from the cylinder *while* the car was running. it's a 3 wire plug red w/ white, orange w/black and yellow. From then on, the car will always start and ignore the sensor. The only negative is the security light stays on. But, I plan to just remove the bulb. Replacing the BCM only postpones it from happening again. Check out the following links. As an electrical engineer, I also believe there is an inherent design flaw because there are too many issues reported. Good luck.

Sounds like you have a bad wheel speed sensor. You need to have it scanned. Since it's been sitting, it might just be a bad connection to one of the speed sensors.

2001pontiac/need manual to replace timing chain

Try this web site. Helped me when I did mine.

http://autorepair.about.com/library/faqs/bl599b.htm

***CAUTION: This job is very involved due to the complexity and tight tolerances of the engine. Misalignment of the cams and crank can result in massive engine damage that would require rebuilding of the head. Read all instructions carefully and if you feel that the job is too complex, it would be better left to a professional.
