car was cranking but not starting and a relay in center console was buzzing so i took the metal lid off relay to see why it was buzzing i noticed 2 thin metal contacts that were activated when key is turned on [turns out it is fuel pump relay].found out car had bad crank sensor which caused relay to buzz.fixed crank sensor car ran good [here is the bad part] while car is running i go to put relay cover back on touched the side of relay with lid and car dies instantly. checked all fuses all good . got a new relay does same thing took lid back off relay noticed 1 of thin metal contacts wasnt shutting so i hold contact shut car runs if i let go of contact car dies whatever powers relay to shut contact is bad. what in the ignition system shuts that contact? relay is 4 rows of 2 blade terminals for my fuel pump maybe shifter selector switch i have no idea

SOURCE: Losing power to the fuel pump

well that sounds like a relay. if your car is an automatic, double check than you replaced the ASD and fuel pump relays and not the trans control relay.
if its not the relay, its probably the ECU(PCM).

SOURCE: 1995 mitsubishi eclipse gsx. Getting only 190

Check the code at advance auto parts, replace the PCV valve just in case. It is an inexpensive part, and if it is clogged will cause the engine to consume more fuel than normal. Also, check the EGR tube coming out of the EGR valve and going to the Intake Manifold. This clogs up with carbon, and is a very common problem that throws a code.

My 02 eclipse shut off while driving and wont start now. I turn the key and it tries to start but wont. My friend said it might be the fuel pump or the relay but we couldnt find the fuel pump relay.

- to check fuel pump/relay- with drivers door open - radio off - insert key and turn from OFF to RUN-not start- should hear a hum from under car back towards tank- relay is under hood in second fuse/relay panel
? did you hit a bump just before car shut off? - if so look in manual for location of EMERGENY FUEL CUTOFF- usually in trunk area- large red push button- can trip sometimes with a hard enough jolt

Car wont start, what could it be?

Check the fuel system to make sure it's getting gas. Take the back seat out and turn the ignition on without cranking the car. You should hear the fuel pump make noise for a few seconds as it pressurizes the system and then turns off. If you don't hear anything, it would probably be the pump or one of the two relays on the firewall next to the master cylinder.

I replace the cheaper of the two relays and that fixed my problem.

Car turns slowly but just wont start

Starter turning slowly sounds like:

- bad starter, or
- bad connection to starter, or
- bad connection(s) on starter relay, or
- low charge on battery, and
- and maybe some others... but these are most likely
