Can't put gas in

When I try to put gas in the car the pump shuts off after half a gallon. My husband already checked the filler tube and the vent tube attached to it. The problem seems to be in another part of the fuel tank venting/evap system. I can't find any info about even what the components are.

There is a vent valve usually mounted up by the frame near the gas tank-On a 2003 chevy s-10 it has just one large hose and one wire connector going to it. When this valve goes bad it doesn't allow the tank to be vented causing gas to spray out when refueling and usually air will rush out when you open the gas caop. Dealer cost on the gm Part # 2593-2571 is about $20.00 and it's really easy to change

Sorry I am not sure on this but it might be a clogged evap filter which makes the tank pressure up when filling which shuts the pump off .. have him crawl under it and follow the fuel lines (2) forward till he finds a canister which might be where the filter is .. it has to be a vent problem .. some have a small vent tube which runs back up to the fillspout too.. have him look again and closer he will find the problem .. Thanks Jerry

I have trouble filling gas tank on my 13 F-250 pump shuts off takes forever to fill. What might cause this?

The system not venting properly is usually the most common source of this issue. Check filler tube/vent tube for any restrictions. Also try keeping pump nozzle part way out of filler tube.If no restrictions found, possible defective tank vent valve on top of tank. Tank will usually have to be removed to access this valve

When I try to put gas in the tank it will only take 0.44 gallons and then the pump just shuts off and no more gas can be put in the tank

Usually a sign of a vent problem with the tank, or a blockage in the filler tube for the tank. The tube has a small pipe that is supposed to equalize pressure inside the tank as you fill it.
Someone may have to remove the filler pipe and check for restrictions.

Gas pump shuts off like its full many times while trying to refuel.

Usually a blockage in the filler tube or a vent problem.
You may have to take the filler tube off and inspect it. There should be a tube inside or outside the pipe to allow air pressure in the tank to equalize.

My 2003 Toyota Tacoma extended cab has a gas tank filling problem. I can only squeeze the gas nozzle with the tip as high on the filler tube as possible to put in about 1/4 gallon of gas per squeeze of...

Many vehicles have a rubber hose between the filler tube on the body and the gas tank. Check that it's not collapsed or that something maybe got in there and squeezed it partially shut. The rubber tube may need replaced. Please rate this answer, thanks.

Ford 2005 Escape

you have a vapor vent tube problem. When fuel goes in, the iar must come out. The filler pipe has a vent pipe inside it. Try putting the nozzle in upside down & see what happens. Try putting the nozzle all the way in & see what happens? Try putting the nozzle in just a little way & see what happens.
Otherwise, you may need a new filler pipe.

Sounds like you should be checking the vent tube/hose, that runs along side your filler pipe, it may be plugged or kinked.
