I have a 1998 saturn ls. I had the battery replaced about 4 weeks ago. i cant get it to pass inspection. it is failing the computer readiness test. i was told to drive about 50 to 100 miles. it failed again. it there another way to fix this problem?
Check all your fuses, there may also be a code about to set. the timeframe depends on your driving habits. or it could be the garage you are taking it to. ask them for a "drive cycle" printout. this is a form that explains the exact driving conditions for your vehicle to reset the monitors. you could also try taking it to autozone- they can tell you if it is ready or not.

I have the same problem. The Saturn dealer told me there is no prescribed drive cycle for the 1998. I have put about 500 miles on so far and still no reset. The dealer said there still might be something keeping the emission system from getting up to the proper temperature without there being a code in the computer. I am baffled and dont want to waste a bunch of money on a "possible" fix.
