Check possible broken timing belt by....
removing the distributer cap , and having someone try to start the car .
While it's trying to start , the rotor should be moving... if it's not
timing belt is broken
It's a big job for someone without great skill and a great selection of car tools

Try changing or switching out the distributor. Most likely getting hot and shuts down. Does it crank but no start whenever it stops? May only start when it cools down again.

I have a 96 Suburban 7.4. I was driving a month ago and stopped at the light. When I pushed the gas it lunged and quit. I have changed the timing chain and gears, Plugs, Wires, Cap, Rotor, Cam Sensor,...

Have you tried boosting fuel supply by spraying carb cleaner into the intake ?
Is it possible the cam is not in time with the crank ? Or the distributor is off a few teeth ? Does it make any difference if you turn the distributor ?

When i drive for a long distance van will stop running and act like it is not getting fuel then let it sit for a while will run again

Your fuel pump is getting bad, you need to replace it as fast as you can. When temp is hot or you ride long distances the fuel pump is getting hot and looses pressure, when you let it cool for a while it may work again for a while, but no one can tell how long!! So my advise would be to replace it as soon as possible. Good luck. (remember the fuel pump is located inside the fuel tank, so to "prevent" overheating while you change it try to have at least 1/2 tank)

Acts like put in neutral and looses power.

If it's more than 80K on the clock, it's possible it needs a new clutch, or there may be oil contamination of the clutch. If it is oil, you will need a new oilseal too. There is no point in just checking a clutch - as it needs gearbox removal, so replace it while it's off. New clutches are under £50 - so it's the labour that is the expensive bit.
Best to shop around.

Nissan Quest 96 Engine running hot

In the fuse/relay box under the hood in front of the battery are 3 fan relays. 1 for low speed, and 2 for high speed. 1 of high speed is back up. check the relays first.
  • Key OFF.
  • Check the 10A RELAYS fuse located in the interior fuse junction panel and the 65A RAD FAN fuse located in the main fuse junction panel. (engine compartment)
pLease rate as fixya if this helps. good luck
