Wel there are other aftermarket products to boost the performance and horse power of the existingl alot depends on what you expect with doing with it are you planning on drifting with it? can the suspension handle the extra horsepower? alot of people figure that they have enough money and they want more power but they for get that that power get's applied to the wheels. so there is extra cost and upgrades to not only suspension, but the braking, transmission. weight distribution when cornering. yes it's worth swaping the motors, however there are other alternatives. they offer a wide range of aftermarrket performance upgrades that will save you some heartache and cash. now if cash is no object then the sky is the limit you can pretty much do any thing you want. a note of caution , just because you read it online doesn't mean it can or should be done, remember your the one behind the wheel and it's your judgement as what's best for your vehicle and you. you also have to take in consideration that everyone out on the net pushing products to make cash so make sure t5hat if you want alot of juice in your motor that there is a price to pay for that make sure it isn't at the expense of your health

Misfire #8 cylinder

this has individual coils for each cylinder, correct? Why not check for spark out the number 8 coil. if there is no spark swap it with another coil. If there is still no spark out the coil than the coil is bad. If the coil starts to work in the swapped coil location and the swap coil will not work in the number 8 position than there is a problem the either the wiring or the PCM.

Swapped a 1999 420A engine into a 1995 eclipse (also a 420A) and we have no spark. We started by checking the cam sensor and it is working properly it is upside down from the 95 but the ASD relay is...

first the cam sensor shouldn't be upside down from the 95. they both should be with the plug facing down. they 95 CAS has a different plug than the 99 CAS.
the 95 has round pins and the 99 has flat pins.

also the 95-96 relays are opposite the 97-99

besides that it could be the ecu. i also have heard of the locating pin on the intake cam shearing off, allowing the gear to turn with the timing belt without the actual camshaft spinning.

Want to do a 5 speed trans swap That's a great forum to start looking at. Honestly, a lot of people will tell you it's not worth the money, but everyone is entitled to their own opinions. It's ultimately up to you, after you've done the necessary research, to decide if it's worth it. Good Luck either way.

Motor swap

If your planing on swaping the 2.0 non-turbo(420a) to the 2.0 turbo(4g63t) your problem will be that the motor and transmission are on opposite side of one another. My GST has the trans on the passenger side and the motor on the driver. The 420a is just the opposite. If your serious about it you should get the motor rebuilt with higher performance crank, pistons, rods, exc.  And they make turbo kits for the 420a.  But you'll need better fuel delivery and some mild tuning.

Engine needs to be replaced, and how to do it

is it an esi or tsi? if esi the swap is damn near impossible because the 4g63 sits reverse to the 420a and the mounts would have to be fabricated and welded on.... its a long **** process....
