Question about 2001 Jeep Cherokee

Misfire code on 2001 2wd jeep cherokee what can we try

There is a picture of a possible misfire by the dash of the 2001 Jeep Cherokee this is a 2 wd unit. Same thing on a Yukon happened, put tank of premium and stp in it, and it went away, not in this case on the jeep.

I am having the same problem.  I have tried new plugs and better quality gas to no avail.  Also, recently replaced air filter.  I was going to replace coil packs next but see that others have tried that and haven't had any luck.

I would lean toward a dead coil pack or a dead plug, there is no way to test the coil pack other than removing it and keep the wires plugged in and install spark plugs in the grommet cavities of the coil pack and check for spark across all cylinders( assuming its a 4.0L)

Try checking fuel injector.
Try checking compression.
Is the engine running ok, maybe you're getting a bad code, if so you need to find out how to clear it, sorry I can't help you with that. Good luck

What is the misfire code?

If it is a specific cylinder try swapping the injector with another cylinder. If the misfire follows the injector to the other cylinder than you know the injector is bad. If it doesn't follow than I would be checking compression on that cylinder.

99 jeep grand cherokee code P302

That's a misfire on cylinder 2. Most likely problem is a bad spark plug or wire. I'd start by clearing the code though and see if it comes back. A random misfire can happen once and never come back. If it does, change the plug (do all of them), and you'll likely be fine.

1999 jeep cherokee 6 cylinder engine light

1.Plugs
2. Vacuum leak
3. Injector fault
4. High or low fuel pressure.
Thats the list of things to check.
This is a #3 cylinder misfire.
There is also TSB about #3 injector needing added heat protection. This could definitely be the cause. I start at plugs and go from there.
Hope this helps.
Thank you,
Lee

Don't know how to use 4WD on 1995 jeep cherokee

the jeep cherokee has 2 different types of 4 wd systems. the command trac has 2 wd, 4hi, neutral and 4 low. if driving on pavement make sure it's in 2 wd. it also has shift on the fly, up to 60 mph you can move the lever to 4 hi and it will not hurt anything. if trying to go to 4 low, be rolling less than 5mph and put the trans shifter in neutral and move the 4wd selector to 4 low. do the reverse to move back to 4 hi or 2 wd
