Belt tensioner replace

You can not bypass tensioner. Have broken bolt drilled out.

REPLACE THE TENSIONER IDLER PULLEY.THE TENSIONER IDLER PULLEY MAINTAINS THE BELT TENSION WHEN IT GOES BAD.THAT WILL LEAD TO LOOSE BELT TENSION CAUSING BELT TO BREAK.

A pulley or the tensioner isnt straight. Maybe why the old one broke?? you want to replace anything the belt touches while you have it apart. pulleys, tensioner, water pump.

You can do it. If it takes longer than 10 minutes something is wrong. If its a V8 make sure the tensioner is good, Fan belts rarely just "break" so check all the pulleys.

Weak belt tensioners were very common in these trucks to get weak and stick, causing the belt to be thrown because of loss of tension.

Get a 3/8s drive rachet put in

was this the bolt in center of the tensioner pulley? if so you will need to remove and replace the tensioner assembly, if not which bolt did you break?

The only issue is if the valves were bent as this is an interference motor. There is no scheduled replacement of the tensioner. I would have the motor pressure tested before replacing the tensioner to make sure nothing else was affected when the tensioner broke.

You need to replace the tensioner assembly, not just the pulley.....
