Question about 1993 Volvo 940
I checked the button on the shifter and this is ok
93 4dr 240 automatic can start but the gear shift will not move

IPDusa.com. If its similar to a 240 (and it most likely is) you can purchase a block off plate for the solenoid so you won't lose 4th gear (actually its OD from torque converter lockup).

Hi, the OD relay behind the fuse panel may be loose or have failing solder joints. The OD relay is the white relay about 1 1/2" tall on the right side of the block. Try removing it and cleaning the contact and plugging it back in. That is all it took to fix my OD problem. Otherwise a solder joint is probably failing and the relay joints inside can be reheated or a new relay installed.
