Question about 2003 Ford F150 Regular Cab

1 Answer

2003 F-150 4X4 with extended cab: while driving, the engine sputters at about 45-55 mph. It acts as if the fuel/air mix is not right? Also, the power window on the passenger side will not roll up.

Here is a trick to get the window back up. open the door with the key on. hold the switch in the up position and slam the door shut while holding the switch inthe up position this should jar the motor enough to get the window up. but you are going to need a new window motor eventually if this trick works for you

The engines run very lean for fuel efficiency. Although a "cold start sequence" gives the impression of freezing temperatures, the operating range is much higher. The water temperature sensor (some have 2) may be staying too warm for the reset. You may need to change the sensor. Then the fuel mix will be richer and the engine will start.

Carburettors nissan king cab 1991 what make carburettor

The goal of a carburetor is to mix just the right amount of gasoline with air so that the engine runs properly. If there is not enough fuel mixed with the air, the engine "runs lean" and either will not run or potentially damages the engine. If there is too much fuel mixed with the air, the engine "runs rich" and either will not run (it floods), runs very smoky, runs poorly (bogs down, stalls easily), or at the very least wastes fuel. The carb is in charge of getting the mixture just right.

Driving sputtered and would not start. Acts like

It could be a fuel filter, Mass Air Flow sensor, extremely dirty air filter...in other words a number of things. Check the air filter. If clean or ok then, while at idle, disconnect the MAF sensor plug and listen for a differance in idle speed or smoothness. This ONLY tells you the MAF is "doing something". lol. If idle remains the same, you'll know the sensor is a problem. (check a manual or the owners manual for exact location of the MAF sensor. It IS in the intake hose/filter box)
It also could be clogged/dirty fuel injectors. Try putting a name brand cleaner in the tank. Berryman B12, STP, Lucas, ect ect. and drive it (if possible) at least 50 miles. Let it sit and run if not drivable, keeping an eye on the temp. Some overheat on extended idle.
Good luck. :-)

My 1996 cutlass ciera stalls out sometimes after I start it and put it in gear. It has also died out when I was driving at lower speeds as well as higher speeds as 70 mph. It acts like it is just losing...

Try the fuel pump Relay. I had the exact same problem and thats all it was. It will eventually stop sending fuel at all. The relay is under the hood on the passenger side front corner. Ther are I think 5 there, the fuel pump relay is all the way to the right looking down into the engine compartment. Hope this Helps

My 2003 Chevy Malibu suddenly lost power climbing a hill. The engine light started flashing. I was able to drive it home at 30 mph.

Could either be the ignition system - ie, coil packs, fuel filter, fuel pump, or bad gas. Was it sputtering?

Combustion?

I didn't see where you mentioned the MAF, or mass airflow sensor, my Volkswagon had the same problem. If I drove for more than 30min, the engine would basically bog, and sputter until basically you couldn't go but a few mph. Then you sit and wait maybe 20 min, and it ran fine for another 30min. Almost posotive!!!

Sputtering like crazy!!

I had a very similar problem we had a timing belt issue.
the car would not go over 50 and would sputter horribly.
We replaced all the belts and it has been fine since
I had replaced many other things before this one was figured out including two fuel pumps (ouch)
