Question about 1999 Volkswagen Cabrio

1 Answer

1999 VW Cabrio, convertible top will not go down??

Bought this car last may and have done some repairs (brakes, exhaust...) but now the top will not go down. Sounds like the motor is working when I press the button for the roof to retract but nothing happens. In addition the rear window defrost does not seem to work. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thank you....

My 2001 tracker has the abs light on and last night my car tried to stop going. It boggdd down and didn't wanna pull. Also if was pulling itself real hard to the right. Now I'm afraid to drive it.

You have brake problems ,suggest you have it checked out at a ASE certified repair shop . With the ABS light on DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes are stored in the EBCM - electronic brake control module . These will point the technician in the right diagnostic path . It sounds as if the ABS motor could be bad or a solenoid .

Where do you add tranmission luid on a 1999 vw cabrio

I'm almost positive that 1999 is the first year that VW changed to a procedure that involves special tools that require you to go back to the dealer to have this done. A quick call would confirm it. Hope this helps.

I was driving and my car started making a really loud rattle noise everytime i went over anything. now this just started happening today and i sounds like something is really loose underneath the front of...

It could be the exhaust mounts which are rubber and break over time. If you grab the tail pipe when it is not hot, can you easily move it up and down. If so you will have to get on the ground and look down the length of the exhaust to find the rubber mounts. Usually the top of the remains attached to the vehicle chassis hook or the exhaust mounts, which makes it easier to identify the connection point. The other possible problem is the strut or shock is broken. You will need to get under the car to look at the suspension or remove the wheel to do the same. Last, check the motor mounts if they are broken.

you may have a vacuum leak or a restriction in the exhaust system check around under the hood to see if you can narrow down the noise. a restriction in the exhaust causes the excess exhaust to push back threw and make a whooshing noise. hope this helps

My chrysler pacifica has motor mount problems. I bought a 2004 pacifica and every time I stop hard you hear this popping, the mechanic said he repaired it but it still makes the popping sound

check if the struts are mounted well because sometime when they lose that rubber top They keep the car do that popping. Jack the car side by side or both and and try to shake the wheel with your hands while you're looking at the struts on top and see if there is any paly. Do that on both sides if they are ok, then check again your Motor mounts.
