Question about Land Rover Discovery

The mechanism connecting the electric window motor to the window has broken. Do I need to replace the whole motor plus arm etc or can I buy the connecting arm seperately? I'm confused between the 'regulator' and the motor. Thanks Ken

Some manufacturers have the regulator as part of the motor and some just have the motor by itself and the regulator by itself if you can get just the regulator I would go that route but if not then you will be forced to change them both motor and regulator

I have a 2001 Chevy blazer windows don't work rear

If windows are electric, check switch and replace if needed.
Check window motors wiring connections. If motors are bas, replace as needed.
If manual, window could be off track or cranking mechanism may be broken. Replace as needed.
If light fuses are good, replace bulbs to the lights.

My tailgate window is stuck in the downward position and the regulator is broken. Do I have buy tracks with the regulator? Help me

Hi there,

That really depends on what you mean by "broken".

Most electric window regulators have motors which can be replaced - is it just your motor not working, or the actual mech, cable?

If you just need a motor only (not the entire regulator mechanism), you may get away with just obtaining another motor, from your local automotive dismantler/wrecker.

The regulators can usually be removed fairly easily, if you know what you're doing.

Cheers,

I need to replace my passenger sideview mirror for a 2003 Pontiac Aztek. How much should this cost to replace?

I just purchased the window at a scrapyard for 86.00 ... upon trying to install I found my window regulator had broken also! This is the peice that holds ur window to the electric motor to roll up and down. The regulators come with the whole motor assembly and aren't sold seperately... costing me another 107.00 plus tax .

Windshield wipers are not working, motor is running but blades are not moving

You probably need to replace the plastic grommets on the wiper linkage arms. On your Dodge there are 2 linkage arms that connect the wiper blade arms to the motor. What has likely happened is the plastic grommet on the motor shaft wore and the linkage arm fell off. As Dodge used several different configurations for the actual set up, you'll need to refer to a repair manual ( Chiltons, Haynes, Motor, etc.)for the specifics on affecting the repair. I have learned it is best to replace ALL of the plastic grommets and not just the 1 that let loose and sometimes it is easier to just buy a replacement arm with the grommets installed. When you go to install the grommet, grease lightly the inside of it with dielectric grease to ease installation as I have broken grommets trying to push them on the motor shaft dry.
If you don't have access to a repair manual you can go to
www.alldata.com
and pay a fee for the diagrams and specific instructions which you can also print out for future reference. I had an 83 charger that had an access panel on the top of the firewall in front of the driver under the hood to get to the wiper motor and linkage, so looking around there may help you before you buy any info to help. Also pay close attention to which way the fat side of the grommet is on the linkage arm - you could put it on backwards and it will fall off when you try to use it. This led to many fun times for me before discovery!!
Hope this helps!!

Front left window lift cable strand broken. will not lift window how do i fix it

remove the interior trim panel to gain access to the inside of the door.
you will have to replace the whole mechanism as you cant buy just the cable.
you should be able to use the electric motor off the one that is in the car now
you also may have to use a drill to remove the pop rivets holding the mechanism onto the door if it is attached that way, mine was, I used bolts with nylock nuts to re attach the winder as I could not locate a place that sold that size pop rivet
hope this helps

Broken window guide for the cable cant get the window up

I just had the same thing 2 wks ago. You can buy a replacement kit at Checkers auto supply, Auto zone etc. for about $100 if you are handy. Its fairly simple. Comes with motor, arms, cable already in one assembled unit. I checked at shops, $300-350 to have them install. Search online, window motor install for jeep, I got better pictures/ instructions than in any service book.
