Question about 1999 Volkswagen Cabrio
My check engine light is on. so I pull out the code, it was saying
p0171 system too lean (bank 1)
p1476 Manfacurer control auxiliary emission controls
The car is driving fine. Is there a way to fix this? Thank you very much. I appreciate it.
P.S., i just went to jiffylube and had the oil changed about 3 days before this happened. I know my car has a coolant leak at the flange that connects to the engine. I will replaced it this weekend. I don't know if these things have to do with the check engine light or not.

O171 MAF (Mass Airflow Sensor) Just try cleaning this part it usually solves that problem without having to buy new part.
0174 Both are mass air flow sensors. The other problem can be a vacuum leak Check PCV valave and all vacuum lines. Also make sure fuel filter and fuel pump are working correctly. You can clean the MAF with some brake cleaner make sure it is dry before you install it back

This sounds like an O2 sensor, there are 4 O2 sensors, 2 for each bank, 2 up stream by the exhaust manifold and 2 down stream by the catalytic converter. However the information you have given is limited, the explanation for the code seems to be missing some information. Ex: right bank sensor 1 to lean.
