Question about Honda CRX

Cooling fan issue on 1987 honda crx si.

The cooling fan works properly during a idle warmup. while driving when i
slow down or stop for a short period the temp goes up and the cooling fan
usually dosen't come on, after i start driving again the temp returns to normal. I replaced the cooling fan switch already. Thanks r.c.

My car is trying to run hot while driving but it cools down during idle or stopping

it could be a thermostat or the head gasket is starting to go bad. when driving the motor gets hotter and compression gasses are created faster then when idling or stopped. if it was a rad cooling fan it would be worse when idling or stopped then driving as air flow over the rad would help cool the coolant.

Does the hose on the fill tank need a clamp or not? why does vechile overheat if the fill tank on the side is full?

A clamp might not be needed, this is not under pressure. It would not hurt to have one, but a simple spring clamp is adequate.
A vehicle can overheat for many reasons. When does it overheat most? During periods of slow speed, stop-and-go, and idling? Or during long high-speed drives on the highway?

If it is mostly idle and slow speed, check your cooling fan. Mostly they are thermostatically controlled, only turning on when needed. If this does not work, check the fan relay, fan motor, and fan thermostat.

If it overheats mostly at high speed, it is most likely that the radiator is partially plugged and needs to be backflushed, rodded, or replaced.

If it always overheats quickly after startup (less than fifteen minutes) it may be that your thermostat is not opening properly.

Sounds like your electric cooling fan(behind the radiator) is not functioning. The thermostat might not be working, making the fan
not come on at all. I once put a toggle switch in my dash, when I had
an old CRX, just to turn on the fan, or it would overheat.

Hi have a 1987 honda civic. Cooling fan does not

check the temperature switch for power and test power at fan relay, you can also run wire from battery to fan directly and tap to see if fan works

Have you adjusted the clutch cable enough to allow it to disengage the clutch ? try that first. Is this the original clutch?

2003 Honda Civic runs hot when idling.

Check the cooling fan switch. It appears your auxiliary electric cooling fan isn't going on when at idle. and engine temp increases. While you are driving, air is being rammed thru your radiator as you cruise along, so it isn't overheating, at idle, that isn't happening, and the fan should go on as the temp goes up. When the ac is switched on, the fan is being signaled to operate due to the heavy ac load on the cooling system.

1993 honda lx run cool while running ,but after it

check thermostat might be sticking or radiator may need flushing if it only heats up while idling check your electric fan may not be coming on try turning on the a/c the 2 cooling fans should come on then if they do then i would check the cooling fan switch if they do not come on when the a/c is switch on you may have a bad electric fan motor or wiring to the fan or fan relay
