Question about 2002 Chrysler PT Cruiser

Key will not turn. like it's locked up. Will turn if someone pushes or rocks the car. but locks back up when you turn it off.

My key will not turn forward or backwards. Almost like it's the wrong key. We were able to get the key to turn and the car to start by having someone push and rock the car back and forth. As soon as I turn the car off it's like it's locked back up again. Could this be the Ignition Cylinder or something else?

SOURCE: seat rocks forward and backwards

It probably is wore in some areas. That is a little harder to see. I don't think it would be anything to worry about unless it is too excessive, then you might want to look around for another one at a junk yard that doen't have too much rock to it.

How can I get the key out of the ignition when I try to turn the car off?

hi do you mean when you turn off the ignition the key won't come out of the lock? .. is it the same if you gently rock the steering wheel right and left whilst trying to remove the key? .. does the steering turn into the security lock position? .. have you always had this problem since you bought the car? .. try gently pushing the key into the lock and then holding the key ring / key fob try to withdraw the key whilst taking the pressure off it by gently rocking the steering. hope you also have a spare key to to use instead of putting the same key back once you have taken it out .. if it does come out try lubricating the lock with a little 3 in 1 oil before using the spare key.

No acceleration gas pedal

Sorry to say, sounds as if you had cables hooked up backwards, or possibly just had very poor connection between battery and battery cable terminal. If you may have had jumper cables connected backwards, you may have fried some electrical component. Get someone to read the codes which are making the check engine light come on, and perhaps this will give a clue as to what component is blown. Could have damaged anything from a small sensor to the main computer, in which case I would check with salvage yard for a used unit. The main computer is quite pricey.

1998 chrysler sebring convertible Ignition locked Brakes locked Wheel locked Can't turn my wheel due to it locking, can't turn my key in the ignition due to it locking, can't Push my breaks due...

Rock the steering wheel back and forth while trying to turn key. I'm sure you may have already tried this, but maybe the steering lock is putting pressure on the key lock, preventing its turning.
If no help, IDK, do you have a chip in the key? Or does the car have a theft alarm locking it? If you have a regular key and it won't work, do you have a spare? You might want a new key made, and see if it works.
Good luck.

Try turning your steering wheel either way while turning the key!!! If the wheels are not straight when you turn of the car the ignition cylinder will lock in position If you turn the wheel a little while turning the key it will unlock the cylinder..

Car is in park on incline, and will not start.

There is a neutral safety switch to make sure car is neutral. If that switch went bad or becase your parked on incline the switch is not made up because car rolled back when you put it in park.If you can depending on the situation, put key in ignition, turn key till one click before it starts, apply emergency brake, depress regular brakes and shift car from park to drive then back to park.then turn off key and restart. If for some reason you try to shift out of park and it wont move you need to roll car a little forward or backward(have someone else do the pushing and be carefull not to put anyone in a pinch point between another car if this car is parked between two cars)With older cars this is usally the case.If this fixes your problem i would have a mechanic change switch because this will probrobly happen again.Be carefull.......

Hear a clicking noise when backing up and forward

if you hear that clicking noise whether going forward or backward,,it's most likely a bad cv joint on your axle going bad,,or bad. you'll need to replace the axle it's coming from. just have someone listen to the noise while you're going forward or backwards while turning the wheel in motion to determine which axle is bad! hope this helps!!
