service enine soon just means you are not meeting emissions. not a biggie unless it's flashing.

Take to local parts store and they will put it on their OBD scanner and tell you the codes your ECM is reporting.

Then re-post here with the specific code(s) and we can tell you what to repair.

I had the same problem. I put a new gas cap on and reset my computer and haven't had anymore problems.

If someone removed the cadillitic converter and oxygen sensor outta a Jimmy what happens to the performance of the truck?

The ECM or "computer" will recieve a signal and the engine will not run right or possibly at all. Unless the truck is very old. Like before 1976.

I need to reset the service engine soon light

it will just come right back on unless the error is fixed. if you do not want to pay to get it fixed pound an ice pick through the light and knock it out forever. it is telling you something is wrong.

if you run a very high temperature, do not contact a medical professional, just throw away the thermometer so you won't know your termperature and you can't be sick anymore. same thinking.

How do you fix a service engine soon?

If you take it to Auto Zone they will hook it up to a computer for free. This will tell you what is needed to turn off the check engine light

Servise engine soon

The pesky "Service Engine Soon" light... honestly no one could tell you without actually servicing it, but it could be anything from an dirty air filter, to a bad block or piston, or anything. A licensed mechanic should be able to tell you after looking at it.

03 Ford Expedition service engine soon light

Take it to your local mechanic to get an OBD code check. It should tell you the problem, and you can get an estimate on the fix unless you want to do it yourself. It could be a fuel filter issue.

"Service Engine Soon" warning light

The "service engine" light come on in about 80% of older cars quite frequently. Usually, it means nothing being related to some emissions component or similar. You can shut it of with a rented (for free,) tool at Autozone. The tool is a code-reader, and can also tell you what the specific cause is, as well as instruct the on-board computer to simply turn off the annoying light. Odds are it'll come back if you don't fix whatever trivial B.S. it is complaining about. Best advice: Unless it's something major, just live with it like everyone else. - Good Luck, John

Ask about...a problem with my buick lesabre 1994

Yes, the oil should not be up too high on the indicator. To see what the service engine soon is telling you go to a Checker Auto, O'Rielly Auto Parts, or any other auto parts store that offers free automotive scans and they will tell you why your light is on. If the person whom is performing the scan is nice you can ask them to clear your codes. Fix that oil problem ASAP!
