My husband turned off our 2000 silhouette at a school to get out and when he came back it wont start it tries to but just wont we changed the fuel filter and the fuel pump relay and i really dont want to...

If you dont know what the fuel pressure is, dont guess. Buy a $20 fuel pressure gauge and hook it to the fuel injector rail and see what fuel pressure you have 35-40 psi. Do you hear the fuel pump run? it should run for 2 seconds when you turn the key on. Do this first,Sometimes....... you can get to pump to run a while longer if you rap on th tank while someone is cranking, that may get it to run long enough to get to a repair shop.

I have to start my truck by putting gas in under the hood it will start right up. i changed the fuel pump and still wont start right. i even checked the fuel lines.

Hi, I recommend you listen for your fuel pump to come on when you turn the key on (without turning to "start"). The pump may not be priming properly. If it isn't, I recommend you replace the fuel pump relay. If that isn't the problem, you may want to check out the oil pressure switch. To do that, pull the connector off the switch and connect the terminals inside the connector with a big paper clip. If this works to allow the truck to start without pouring gas in the throttle body, replqace the oil pressure switch. The switch is usually next to the oil filter. The relay is usually in the box by the battery. Please let me know if you have questions and thanks for using FixYa.

check your fuel pressure, also check to see if there is a booster pump, some ford rangers have a booster pump inline... fuel injected units need to have at least 35-45 psi some even higher around 50 psi...

Car wont start not getting gas

Sounds like you might want to check the Fuel relay first under the hood. If that is fine, then check the fuel filter. If it is not the fuel filter, then have the fuel pump checked because it might need replacing. Also, it could be the fuel pressure regulator, or something electrical

My 2001 cavalier ran out of gas, and now it wont start after putting gas in the tank. the engine cranks but wont start. could it be the pump?

You will need to check the fuel pressure. You will have a connection on the fuel line to the motor under the hood. No fuel pressure indicates one of three problems. Fuse in fuse box, relay in relay box under the hood or fuel pump located in fuel tank.

Not getting any gas, abuzzing noise under hood near where throttle cable hooks

could be a bunch of things, possibly a bad injector relay, will need to have someone troubleshoot the fuel injection system. Have you checked the fuel pressure?
