Question about 1988 Chevrolet K1500
I have a 1988 Chevrolet K1500 series pickup. It has a 350CID engine. my problem is when i try to engage the fourwheel drive it doesnt seem to engage the front hubs. Everyone tells me it is a vaccum problem but I can't find any vaccum lines only electrical wires going to the front axel.
The main question i have is are the hubs manual locking? if they are manual you need to lock them out. if they are automatic u might as well take them off and replace them with manual lock outs.

I have a 1988 chevy 4x4 that hat the same problem. It was the 4wheel drive switch(works like a selenoid) and screws into the front differential. I was told they go out often although I have only replaced one. This is a picture of it. It can be purchased at most any auto-parts store. Hope this helps. Larry
