Vibration/Whinning Noise while drivin

I have a 1996 dodge ram pick up with a 5.9L V8 that makes a loud vibration like whinning noise while under load but not at idle, I though it was being cause by the water pump as the truck was running a little hotter than usual, but replaced the water pump and noise remains! This noise only happen while in gear and accelerator is pressed not at ideal or while in gear and coasting! I've been told it could be the fan clutch or the balancer pully? Any ideas would be a big help!

Check fuel pump pressure. sounds silly but my 1500 ram van did this 2 months . replaced a lot of parts then left me sitting on side the road. Cause was fuel filter and pump.

Check your motor mounts or your u joints. they can cause a noise and vibration. make sure your truck is in nutral when you move the drive shaft... if it moves at all or clunks that could be your problem. also an old motor/tranny mount could change your drive shaft angle and cause a noise and vibration

My 2002 Grand prix makes a whinning sound above 35 mph and follow ground speed not engine speed

Hello Roger Letterly,

Besides NOT carrying many actual Auto-PARTS... AUTOZONE has an interesting trouble-shooting guide... FREE.

It has often perplexed me... but I have HUMORED it a couple of time just to see if there was some basic intelligence (there-in)...

You might want to LOGIN and give your vehicle a serious try.

Personally...
(highly dependent on your "WHINNING" definition)...
I would suggest the differential gears need to be checked for lube... and properly set-up (first guess)...

but the truth of the matter is everything from road surface to brake surfaces... all your bearings... power steering, water pump, alternator and even your tire tread can cause "WHINNING".

Give AUTOZONE's trouble shooter a try...

Then check your lube... ELSE

Consider buying the FACTORY workshop+repair+manual
to set up the gears in your differential... or take to a MECHANIC & have them professionally evaluated (estimated... FIRST).

Hope this helps.

Have whinning noise when turning right or slowing down sounds like a power steering noise in rear end

A whinning noise while turning is an indication of a worn bearing. The extra pressure put against the bearing/race during the turn and the closing of a gap creates this noise.I would chech the axle bearings on the side of the truck on the outside the curve when you hear it. What I'm saying is if you hear it when you turn left....check the right side bearing

Loud Vibration / Sound Under Acceleration And Starting Engine.

Get the engine mounts checked. A bad mount may allow part of the engine to lie on a body or frame part, allowing engine vibrations to become very loud. Torquing of the engine (under load) can cause the same type problems.

1995 chevy silverado making a whinning noise

Sounds like it's starving for fluid. The noise you hear is probably a clogged filter. It it's been going on for a long period of time, you may have trans damage. I would recommend changing the fluid and filter and add some Lucas trans additive. I'm not much on additives but this stuff works. Hope this helps. Phil
