The brake light switch is mounted on a bracket located above the brake pedal. It is mounted in such a way that it can be adjusted by moving the switch in its mount. If you push the switch a little forward it may put out the light when the pedal is released. If not suggest a replacement. A simple disconnect and pull will remove the switch. Reinstall new switch against the pedal with a slight clearance from fully depressed. Good luck Moe

My question is my brake light wouldn't go off so I disconnected the battery, next day put on a brake switch and now SUV Ford Explor wont crank up or get in gear. Then got this guy to come look at it ,then...

Wow, you're all over the page with this request! :)
By saying "wont crank up or get in gear" I need to know, when you turn the key to start, does it in fact make the engine crank?
Make sure the shifter, if automatic, is all the way up into park.
Make sure battery is fully charged. Battery terminals are clean and tight.
Then turn key to on, not start yet. Are lights lighting up on instrument panel? Yes? No?
Try these things and let us know what you have.

High mount brake light stays on after ignition is turned off

The only suggestion I can make is that the turn signal switch is defective and is shorted internally. If you disconnect the turn signal/multifunction switch under the dash do the lights go out in question?

My tail lights sometimes will stay on when I turn car off, and it drains battery; but if I leave it on auto lights it

Are you sure these are not the brake lights? I think they are. Go under the dash above the brake pedal and disconnect the brake light switch and see if the brake lights go off, if so replace the switch or adjust it.

Rear lights won't turn off in corolla 2000

Is this brake lights or tail lights? If brake, then switch on pedal is stuck, if tail lights, then switch is bad.

Just today had brake booster replaced. Arriving home after dark, brake lights would not turn off! Tried removing fuses-etc. - nothing works. Help! Battery will drain overnight. Thank you!

Your brake light switch is stuck. It's mounted just under dash above your brake pedal. Sounds like it wasn't adjusted properly. You can disconnect your battery for the night and reattach in AM to get back to repair shop for proper fix. Remember when reattaching cables, NEGATIVE CABLE GOES ON LAST

Brake and turn signals not working

usually this indicates that the brake light switch or turn signal or flasher have failed.i would start by replacing the brake light switch located on the upper area of brake pedal and fix ya problem.
