When you turn the ignition ON before starting the car, the "Check engine" light is supposed to come on indicating that the engine computer (also could be called ECM, PCM, or ECU) is powered on. If the "Check engine" light does not come with the ignition ON, it's possible that there is no power coming to the engine computer (e.g., due to a broken wire, faulty main relay, burnt fuse, etc.) or that there is a problem with the engine computer itself.

That famous check engine light that come on dont panic when your driving and the light come on oh no more money to spend if you dont notice any difference the car drive the same dont panic you probably got a little problem with a oxygen sensor its not the end of the wolrd next time you go in the shop get it check but if it flashing when your driving that another thing you got to get check out as soon as posible when the light is flashing it there to worn you that if you continue to drive it you may damaged the cathalytic converter that big money that flashing light is the engine misfire gas go in the cylinder and there no combustion so gas exit without been burn and go in the exhaust system and burn in the converter it not desing for that it get red hot and smelt

Why does my dashboard lights flash on and off when I break? battery and oil light turn on red before car shuts off. car will restart but shuts off again after driving a short while and repeats.
Have the check engine light scanned for codes related to this problem first. You may have a charging system issue causing low voltage resulting in the lights flashing/stalling.

There is only thing will cause the check engine light to flash when you are driving and that is your catalyst converter is over heating and that is very dangerous if you continue to drive the van and the check engine light is flashing there is a very real possibility your van can catch on fire. What causes the catalyst converter to get hot is that raw fuel is being dumped into the exhaust system. That system can get so hot that it will glow cherry red it’s easier to see it at night. Please make sure and are expecting your problem correctly and if you are take it to a shop because you have more than one problem and the van is not safe to drive

I had the same problem with my, 03, hemi. I did not wait 15 min. turn off and back on was all that was needed to reset, "red flashing light lower right hand ". though another 8 or 9 on off's, Engin Light also goes off, untill next time. All i did was pulled off my Air Intake box and hose, so i could get to butterfly on throttle bodie, sprayed carb cleaner in there. and it was very dirty. after put back togather, give it a few.... mine did not start right up, when it did idle real ruff even died few times...Once the computer re adjusted ran like it did when i bought it....that was 2 weeks ago, still no eng light, no flashing red ones either.

VW Golf Mk4 1.4 16v Oil Light Warning on Dash
Measure your oil at normal operating temp, without the engine running of course. This will give you a more accurate reading once the oil has circulated in the system.

The system works like this:
  • With the ignition on, the oil pressure indicator light on the dash should come on and flash. Once the engine is started, the light should go out and stay out as long as the engine is running.
  • If the oil pressure drops below approximately 0.3 bar or 5 psi when the engine is running below 2000 rpm, the light will flash.
  • If the oil pressure drops below approximately 1.8 bar or 27 psi when the engine is running above 2000 rpm for more than 3 seconds, the indicator light will flash and the buzzer will sound.
If either this two warnings occur:
  • The engine should be switched off immediately and the oil level should be checked.

The red flashing light with the lighting bolts comes on and the check engine comes on. The engine seems to lock in the current gear.I can stop and restart engine and it returns to normal. John
John, is this an Hemi 5.7 truck 2500, and the ETC, MIL lights flash or stay on, then you have a sofware issiue with the PCM, DTC code will probably be, throltle reached forced limit, this can be only be fixed at your Dodge dealer, common problem 2003-2005 model years, also Tsb requires soft ware update to PCM, might under warranty depending on year of your truck.
