Possible bad fuel pump...when they are bad they overheat and shut down...When in no-start do you have fuel and spark ? Does everything electrical shut down?

Have you tried replacing the electronic spark module located inside the distributor cap. its a thin flat plastic and ceramic piece that has about four wires going into it.

I have a 1992 pontiac sunbird that starts when it is cold, but after it is driven and warms up if I shut it off it won't start again. If it sits for 1.5 hours it will start again with out a jump start. ...

Replace the starter for the armature is swelled up when hot and biding against the starters fields in there starters casing. Upon cooling off the swelling goes down and the starter is able to operate again. Remember when metal gets hot, it will expand and upon cooling it will shrink back to the normal size. After so long it will quit working from being so deformed from so much abuse

HELPPPP!

There is a TSB on this issue the horn pad needs to be replaced. See Bulletin below.

Bulletin Number: 93-3-9
Reference Number: 333202
Publish Date: 5/93

Subject:
INTERMITTENT HORN BLOWING WHEN CAR IS COLD (REPLACE CONTACT ASSEMBLY/VINYL PAD)

Models Affected:
1989-93 SUNBIRD AND 1992-93 GRAND AM MODELS

CONDITION
Some owners of 1989-93 Sunbird vehicles and 1992-93 Grand Am vehicles may experience intermittent horn blowing when car is cold.
CAUSE:
This condition may be caused by excessive shrinkage of the contact assembly components when cold. This forces the horn pad contact plates together which activates the horn.
