    thank you .

But I have looked really well and even sprayed some lube but still the seat does not move

either the motor is really weak or the sprocket on the track is broken

you can hear the motor spinning - the only way to move the seat is to push the seat from behind with your feet and have someone else hold in the seat forward button

ok thankyou - will keep that in mind.

thankyou very much. can u tell me the best way to remove the drivers seat with out deploying side air bag

OK, if you had said that , i wouldn't said what I did. If the motor is shot, generally it costs more for the motor than for an entire seat from a scrapyard...consider that when deciding what do do.

checked tracks under the seat for obstructions? I've found all kinds of stuff jammed in there!!

I could be wrong on this but to the best of my knowledge, you will not disturb anything that will trigger the airbag. (check a haynes or other manual to verify). Essentially there are four bolts that hold the seat to the floor and a plug/harness that connects the seat to the electrical system. If you use a seat from the same year, it is a plug in and go. If from another year, sometimes you will need to move wires around in the harness end or swap connectors.
good luck!!

Sounds like you have stripped your gears. You may find parts or whole seats from a salvage yard. Some yards will take your year and model and do a search. Some have a network. I've changed seats in many cars, just not a towncar. It is not all that hard, for the most part. Good Luck lbreen

2001 lincoln town car, when trying to move seat, forward or back, it just clicks. almost as if it was slipping, seat move alittle sometimes.

Call an autorecycler and ask them to find you a replacement seat. The doodads which make these car cost more have a short life span. If you want long life, stay with plain jane stuff. You need a new seat motor and a replacement used seat will cost less than a new seat motor and the cost to swap a seat in and out will cost less than the labor to take the seat out repair it and then put it back together.

The driver's seat will not move forward or backward. when the key is inserted or removed, it sounds as if a gear may be stripped. It is a cluttering sound as a bad gear.

give these websites a try and if all fails stop by your local Lincoln dealership in the parts department and they be able to print you off the pictures and diagrams you will need it sounds as if there is something stuck under the seat are you have a bad motor wish you the best of luck Michigan Man.

My 2001 Town Car power seat is stuck in all-the-way back; other seat functions still fine, just won't go forward

can you hear the motor trying to run?

It has a separate motor for each function. Could be binding on the track too. try pushing forward while hitting hte switch

2002 town and country non-power sliding door won't unlock driver

Sounds like the actuator has frozen up (electric solenoid that moves lock mechanism) You can remove the door panel and spray wd40 into it through the small rubber boot where the linkage enters the solenoid and try to work it up and down, but generally if it's very frozen, it will need to be replaced.

Power front seat won't go back and forth

U will have to replace the entire power seat transmission, there is no other way to get the part, I know it sucks but that is the way it is, try finding a used unit, or swap the passenger side to the drivers side.
