Did you check the coolant level? I bet you did so my money is on the water pump not circulating.

P0128 code on 2006 ford escape, solutions?

Diagnostic Test Code (DTC) P0128 has a generic description of "Coolant Temperature Below Thermostat Regulating Temperature".

The Poertrain Control Module (PCM) checks the coolant temperature at startup. It then calculates the period of time that it should take for the engine to reach operating temperature (or thermostat regulated temperature). After the calculated period of time, the PCM again checks the coolant temperature. If it has not reached operating temperature, a code P0128 flag is set in mode 6.

If the engine still has not reached operating temperature after 5 more minutes of continuous engine operation, code P0128 is set in continuous memory and the Check Engine (or Malfunction Indicator Light "MIL" is turned on.

Possible causes:

> A stuck-open engine coolant thermostat (MOST common)
> A skewed Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) or Cylinder Head Temperature(CHT) sensor (working, but not reading correct temperature)
> Low engine coolant level (causing the sensor to not read correctly)

First, the engine coolant (antifreeze) level should be checked. If it is low, it is recommended to perform a cooling system pressure test to find out WHY.

Then, the actual engine temperature should be measured with an infrared thermometer near the ECT or CHT. The reading from the thermometer should be checked against the live sensor data with a scan tool. (PLease note that MOST generic OBD code readers CANNOT perform this function.)

If the reading from the thermometer and the sensor data is within 10 degrees F of each other, replace the thermostat. Otherwise, the sensor circuit should be checked for high resistance (loose or corroded connector, damagd wire, etc.). If no high resistance is measured in the rest of the circuit, the sensor should be replaced.

When I push the gas on my car it won't go past

The car runs fine after it warms up? Is it running with the check engine light off? But it does come on with the key before the engine is started? If the coolant temperture senser is bad ( or disconnected someway) the check engine light will be on but the car might run OK at normal operating tempertures. Have the car checked for codes. It's OBDI so you might have to find a service provider that can ceck the codes on this pre OBDII car. If it turly runs good at normal operating tempertures and the transmission is'nt low on fluild then the coolant senser does'nt always turn the check engine light on if it's bad and still reading something but wrong. Truly running good and the coolant is full ( all the way). chage the senser and see what happens as thier cheap and easy to change with commn hand tools.654437604.jpg

I have a 2006 ford fusion, yesterday the check engine light came on as I was driving at highway speed...I went to auto zone and the code read as 128 "coolant temp is always low". The coolant...

the part store you went to can clear the code
however, being LOW in coolant will cause over temp
you concern is probably a defective thermostat or defective CHT

Adding water to a 1996 ford contour?

Check the level of the coolant in the reservoir at least once a month. Be sure to read and understand precautions when servicing your vehiclein this chapter. If the engine coolant has not been checked for a long period of time, the engine coolant reservoir may eventually empty. If this occurs, add engine coolant to the coolant reservoir. For more information refer toAdding engine coolantin this chapter.
Automotive fluids are not interchangeable; do not use engine coolant, antifreeze or windshield washer fluid outside its specified function and vehicle location.

Check page 169 from Ford-Contour-Owners-Manual for other details.

Hope helps (remember comment andf rated this).

I have a 98 ford mustang 3.6 and my check engine

Take it to your local Auto Zone and get the codes read. They can print you a copy of what to check for. IF the fluid is not flowing at all then your water pump is not working, be it due to belt or bearing in the pump. Have you changed the thermostat? Does the car actually run hot or does the light/gauge just read hot?

2001 ford taurus with check engine light on. code

Make sure you replaced the right one there are two sensor's for the coolant, one takes coolant temp and the other one runs the fans for the radiator. Both are located on drivers side of the block. 2 wire leads on each how ever both are different in sending readings to the computer. Both look just alike also. Just make sure you replaced the right one. Or replace both.

Low coolant light always on

Low coolant means just that, find out if the system is really low or the light is receiving a false signal from the low coolant sensor, just check the level in the coolant recovery tank and the make sure the radiator tank is full, if you are low on coolant then check out why, a leak is probable, most likely a water pump or hose related issue, and no a bad thermostat will not in itself turn on the low coolant light unless the engine boils over and the system becomes low. Remember never ever open a radiator cap on a hot engine, you would be surprised how many professional mechanics get burned this way, be careful..

welcome to the world of owning a ford. after about 130,000 miles your check engine light will come on and stay on unless you reset your comps. but will come back on if the problem is real or the sensor is bad. see ford has it set up so that do it your selfers like me still ahve to pay them money some how. only ford can sell you a new sensor, and only ford knows where it goes. take it to a ford dealership and have the run a digagnostic on your car i bet uit's just a bad sensor.
