I got it to an accident on the driver side front corner. The radiator got pushed in about an inch.when i got the body fixed the didnt pull the radiator back.so the fans could turn kind of but they would turn off after about a minute whenever i turned the a/c on.so instead of pulling the radiator out we took the bolts on the very top of the fans that connect to the top of the radiator off and put in some washers to move the fans back a little so the will turn. but now they dont turn at all when i turn the a/c on . allso the a/c doesnt blow air it turns on but doesnt blow,is this what makes it blow air?
and whats wrong and how do i fix the fans?????

Re: 96 cadillac radiator fans
Electric fan should come on along with a/c compressor to add cooling capacity. Otherwise electric fan is turned on by the engine temp sensor, through a relay triggered by the computer. First, put 12v and ground to fan motor to make sure it works independtently of the system, Then diagnose further if necessary.

They will only come on if the engine is over 225 degrees or the ac is on.The fans are controlled by the pcm. There are three fan relays located in the relay center under the hood on driver side. The puller fan (radiator side) is controlled by the PCM and relay B which is the first relay on the right side of the relay center counting from the front of the car (nearest driver side headlight).
First remove the fan shroud - undo the two clips on the left and right by pulling up. It should be possible to now ease the shroud upwards passed the fan. Drain the coolant (there is red valve on the right hand side lower corner of the radiator for this purpose) Remove the top and lower hoses. Un-clip the side panels that fill the gaps either side of the radiator aperture. Remove the two top clips, by pulling them upwards, that secure the radiator to the car body cross member at the front. The radiator should just lift up and out. Beautifully simple German design.
Sounds like a possible motor mount loose or broken, but hard to say.
Open hood, put car in drive, hold foot tight on brake pedal don't let off the brakes, accelerate slightly, if the mount is broken engine should lift up on the right side looking out the drivers side windshield, and show signs of the fan blades hitting the black plastic fan shroud in front of the radiator.
A car lift is the easiest and safest way to gain access for replacement of a broken engine mount.
Hello, look on the left (driver side) front of the engine, you will see at the end of the closest to you, on the cylinder head, a pulley. This pulley runs your water pump, by a belt connection. Check and see if that belt is on.
If you are adding water, you should have it pressure tested, as it could be the water pump(which takes a special tool to replace) or a bad head gasket.
