Fuel line diagram for 2004 ford explorer sport trac

It runs from the tank to the frame(drivers side) up to the engine. I don't and you should splice fuel lines. I replace all of it. Plastic or metal. If the leak is coming around the sides of the tank, this could be the fuel sending unit.

I cannot find the oxygen sensors on a 1997 ford explorer

well since they are located in the exhaust system start in engine compartment at the exhaust manifolds and and work your way back. depending on engine size and whether or not the exhaust is dual or comes together as one the best spot to check is at the catalyst. see there are different types and could be one bigger one or 2 smaller ones.... if one big catalytic converter should have 2 possibly 3 hO2 sensors and if you have 2 smaller catalytic converters you should have 4 hO2 sensors.... to take them out you want your exhaust plenty warm cuz things expand and is easier to remove them. before catalyst is your upstream which helps with fuel delivery and after is your downstream whichs monitors catalyst function. ford uses hO2 sensors which is heated O2 sensors. hope this can help you

An error code of 0457 came up. any idea what that is?

P0457 FORD - EVAP Control System Leak Detected (Fuel Filler Cap Loose/Off)
EVAP control system has a very large leak such as fuel filler cap fell off, EVAP control system does not operate properly.

Vehicles that meet enhanced evaporative requirements utilize a vacuum-based evaporative system integrity check. The evap system integrity check uses a Fuel Tank Pressure Transducer (FTPT), a Canister Vent Solenoid (CVS) and Fuel Level Input (FLI) along with the Vapor Management Valve (VMV) or Electric Vapor Management Valve (EVMV) to find 0.040" diameter or larger evap system leaks. Federal vehicles can utilize a 0.040" leak check rather than the 0.020" leak check required for California vehicles (click over pic for zoom).

Symptoms:
- Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)
- Possible a noticeable fuel odor caused by the release of fuel vapors

Possible causes:
- Missing fuel filler cap
- Incorrect fuel filler cap used
- Fuel filler cap remains open or fails to close
- Foreign matter caught in fuel filler cap

Possible solution:
- Retight or replaced fuel tank filler cap

Tech notes:
It is a very common problem with Ford vehicles. There are service bulletins for the following vehciles:
1997-2000 Ford CONTOUR

1997 ford explorer stalls at red lights or at stop signs only after engine warms up

check for air in the fuel lines going to the rail. replace part of the fuel line with clear plastic hose for testing only, any bubbles in the fuel will cause your problem
