If it is plugged remove the hoses from the intake manifold and water pump and hook a garden hose from hot water to it and blow it out in reverse and your heat will work again

if the heater core is good, the hot -cold switch usually located in one of the heater hoses could need replaced or the cable is bad going to that valve. If it is stuck in closed position, you will get no heat

How to replace a heater core in a 2000 chevy blazer

Inspect/Replace If it is necessary to remove the heater assembly, the cooling system must be drained before removing the heater core.
When a heater core leaks, a new heater core is installed or the old one repaired.
Heater Housing
  • The heater housing is usually under the dash and must be removed to gain access to the heater core.
  • Procedures for replacing the heater core vary with the year, make, and model of car. It threfore necessary to consult the manufacturer's repair manuals for the proper procedure for replacement.
f74-01.gif The heater housing is disassembled to get to the heater core. Heater Core
  • Remove the access panels(s) or the split heater/air conditioning case to gain acess to the heater core.
  • Remove the heater coolant hoses.
  • Remove the cable and/or vacuum control lines (if equipped).
  • Remove the heater core securing brackets and/or clamps.
  • Lift the core from the case. Do not use force. Take care not to damage the fins of the heater core when removing.
  • To reinstall the heater core, reverse the removal steps.
When the heater core leaks and must be repaired or replaced, it is a very difficult and time-consuming job primarily because of the core's location deep within the firewall of the car. For this reason always leak test a replacement heater core before installation.

2000 blazer ls heater problem. Changed thermostat still no heat. is there a shut off valve thats likely or maybe a plugged core

I'm not sure if you heater control valve is vaccuum operated or if it cable operated. If it is vaccuum operated the valve could be bad or you have a vaccuum leak to the valve. If your valve is cable operated then you most likely have a clogged heater core. Please rate my answer.

Where is the heater core located on 2000 Chevy Blazer?

Its located under the dash, just behind the glove compartment. From what I've read, you have to pretty much remove the entire dash to get to it.

Replace a heater core in 2000 chevy blazer

it is located under the dashboard against the firewall of the passenger seat. i recomend buying a repair manual from your local auto parts store before attempting as it requires draining, flushing, refilling and bleeding the cooling system as well as removing many other componets like the entire dashboard and thermostat
