Did you replace pump? if so you have to bleed the air out of the system remove the cap and turn the wheel all the way in both directions a few times this should remove the air

Check the belt that drives the power steering pump. It's probably loose and needs to be adjusted. A loose belt will slip and make a squealing noise. Let me know if you need more info.

bleed power steering with engine off pour power steering fluid in the power steering reservoir until fluid stay at full mark on powersteering pump dip stick.wait few minutes then check powersteering fluid again if low add little more when fluid level stop dropping crank vechicle turn steering left to right with out a stop turn steering wheel all the way to the left to all way to right for minute until air bubbles leave the powersteering fluid. when steering wheel feel normal stop engine check check power steering fluid should be at full hot mark if fluid level dont drop air is out the system. dont overfill powersteering reservoir if so you will blow front seal.dont drive vechicle if steering dont feel normal have vechicle towed in garage.

MY 2001 Elantra was making a horrible screeching noise whenever i turned the car on and whenever i turned the steering wheel. i thought it was the power steering pump so i replaced the pump but i didnt...

Hi, it sounds more like you have a improperly tensioned drive belt. If you didn't get all the trapped air out of the power steering system this maybe the cause of your stiffer steering problem now. Try loosening the P/S belt all the way and starting the car if you still hear the noise you know its in one of the other drive belts. good luck

I need some liquid to stop my van making noises

It's not the transmission, because you wouldn't see the space that the transmission fluid fills, and it's doubtful that it's the brake fluid, the brakes will act up all the time (stop lights, etc) if that were the case, so it must be the powersteering fluid. If your car is sort of a pain to steer around corners, the slower you go, the harder it is to move the wheel to turn, and you hear a sort of whiney noise when you get into a deep turn, or are turning slowly, that would for sure be powersteering.

Steering wheel makes grinding noise when it is turned

it could be low on powersteering fluid, its just vibrating through the colum so you could check that first, or it could be the steering wheel shroud the plastic that covers the colum behind the steering wheel, take it off and see if it still does it,check fluid first though...hope this helps

Whining or grinding noise/screech when we turn the wheel

Dear Screech And Whine......What you have described is definitely a power steering concern. And yes the fluid is low.....thanks for the accurate problem description!! You are correct on the filling the fluid part also......but keep in mind that if your power steering fluid is lo that you might very well also have a ps leak too.You can do a visual check and trace all of your ps lines to make sure that no fluid is escaping anywhere.....You ae more tha welcome to get back to me if you have any further questions...HOPE I COULD HELP!!!

Check your Power Steering Fluid. I would suspect its low, if so, you have a leak and the most common thing to leak is the High Pressure Hose. Have that looked at ASAP, you dont want to destroy the PS Pump.

98 gs300 loud screeching noise that last for about 5-10 seconds

The only four rotating items under the hood are
engine
power steering pump
A/C compressor
and smog emission pump.
==== I would check the fluid level on the power steering first. Check for pink fluid leak on the ground,
==== Check the A/C system with the wheel turn to one side and APPLY ALL LOADS.
Example: high beam on,A/C max, radio on and deforster on.
This will give you system a stress test.
All eyes on the pully and locate to part that generate the loud screeching noise.
My bet is on the power steering pump.

Please post more info on the comment window.
I will follow up on it.
