Car is full of coolant but car overheats

hi there
the car can be completely full of coolant but if the thermastat is not opening then it will cause it to overheat the thermastat is what allows the coolant to enter and cool the vehicle however if it doesnt then it will over heat you can get a new one at any autoparts store or you can take it to your local mechanic to have this repaired have a wonderful day

My Mazda MPV 1995 is overheating. I have changed the thermostat and fklushed the radiator. The water pump seems fine. Of note is the bottom hose going to the thrmostat is cold. Does this mean the water...

Nornally the hose will warm up but not hot with a circulating system. the therostae could be installed upside down or be bad. You should install a therostate with a asprin holding it open to circulate the coolant till the cooling system is full and the asprim will disolve as it soaks in the coolant. the air will ciculatre to the top and out and the systrem will be full. the stat will work corectly after the asprim is gone. with air around the stast it might not open and therefore overheat.

My scerity sys went off and I my car over heats I think it needs a new thermastat

maybe your security system monitors engine temp ... it doesnt have to be the thermastat thats bad .. it could be the radiator fan switch or relay bad .. you can tell which by the following.
1. if it overheats only when idling or in heavy traffic but does not overheat while on the road (moving) then your problem is more likely the radiator fan switch, relay or fan motor ..
2. if your car overheats all the time even while driving then it could be the thermostat ..

check belts, coolent level and radiator clogging ..

Car overheats when when not moving

Sounds like you need a new thermastat. Relatively cheep and easy to intsall. Thermastat triggers your cooling fan relay.

98 skylark overheating

that could be part of the problem the pump could be wore out now because antifreze lubricates the pump but it could also still be the thermostat if it is its cheaper than a pump
