SOURCE: Cam Shaft Sensor Problems

Had the same problem before on my 04 Neon SXT...camshaft sensor is on left side of engine block, take out the battery and to the left of it (face car) is the camshaft position sensor. To change it you'll have to move a few hoses but its plan to see there on the left side of the engine...pretty easy remove and replace. Fixed my problem of car not going above 2k RPM when i replaced the sensor.

SOURCE: I have a 2000 buick lesabre. The fix engine soon

It NEVER was the camshaft sensor! Unless, you've removed the engine lately, which I doubt.
RUN to Advance Auto Parts and buy a can of "SeaFoam" and add to your gas tank per instructions...drive at least 100 miles and the problem should go away...IF it doesn't you'll have to replace the O2 sensors in the exhaust system...Any good mechanic should be able to do this for much less $$ than the dealership DO NOT go to the dealer for repairs!
Good Luck

SOURCE: where is the camshaft sensor on a 2004 dodge neon

disconnect the negative battery cable. the cmp sensor is located on the left end of the cylinder head. move thebrake booster hose and electrical wires out of the way to access the cmp sensor. disconnect the sensor plug by pushing the locking tab back toward the firewall. remove the 4 bolts from sensor and lift out sensor. remove the trox bolt which holds the target magnet to camshaft. when installing target magnet be sure to line up holes to dowels on end of camshaft. torque torx bolt to 30 in-lbs. be sure to install new o-ring on sensor and torque bolts to 80 in-lbs. My 2004 dodge neon sxt is giving me a p0340 code how do i fix this

A code P0340 could mean one or more of the following has happened:

  • a wire or connector in the circuit could be grounded/shorted/broken
  • the camshaft position sensor may have failed
  • the PCM may have failed
  • there exists an open circuit
  • the crankshaft position sensor may have failed

With a P0340 OBD-II trouble code, diagnosis can be tricky at times. Here are some things to try:

  • Visually inspect all the wiring and connectors in the circuit
  • Check for continuity in the circuit wiring
  • Check the operation (voltage) of the camshaft position sensor
  • Replace the camshaft position sensor as required
  • Check the crankshaft position circuit as well
  • Replace circuit wiring and/or connectors as required
  • Diagnose/replace the PCM as required

Hope this is for any assistance.

For what sensor is the code po340 on a dodge neon 04 and how i change.

Hi,
This indicates that a problem was detected in the camshaft position sensor circuit. Since it says circuit, that means the problem could lie in any part of the circuit - the sensor itself, the wiring, or the PCM. Don't just replace the CPS (camshaft position sensor) and think that will definitely fix it.

Camshaft

on a neon the cam sensor is located at the drivers side of the engine on the end of the head. it mounts directly over the end of the front camshaft. it is about 3 inches wide and about 2 and a half inches tall. its made of black plastic and has a wire conector in the back of it. these very comonly leak oil so be careful of the o ring and cleaning the mounting surface.

2004 dodge sx2.0 cam sensor had code p0340 camshaft position sensor a bank1 circuit malfunction. It started the other day I was driving on the highway and the engine light came on then i lost all...

You have to remove the air cleaner hose to the throttle body to access the sensor. I hope it helps. You will see it, its on end of engine. Remove connector then the bolts holding it on. God-Bless! Hope this helps you. The dodge 2.0 is known for bad camshaft sensors, certain years.

Transmission

You probably need to have linkages at transmission lubricated. There is one that controls throttle valve which tends to seize up on a regular basis. When it starts to seize, you will notice it staying in lower gear longer before it shifts up, and sometimes it will shift down hard when slowing down to stop.
