Bmw 3 series fan failure!?!

My fan for cabin temp control has given up the ghost, it doesn't blow what ever setting it's on even with the aircon switched in. I take it i'm going to have to replace the fan/motor but are there other checks i.e. fuses i need to examine before i go ripping it out?

Most likely the blower motor hasn't failed. Usually the final stage transistor(blower resistor) goes out. I would recommend taking your vehicle to the dealership neither component is easy to replace and a bmw dealership always stands behind their repairs

Aircon doesn t turn off even i switch off

Need a little more info but typically upscale cars will run the AC compressor even when not needed. This assists the car with humidity control in the cabin, the heater can easily heat the air that just got cooled and removed some of the moisture. Look for an economy setting, or a way to turn climate control off.

Hi,my 1995 bmw 316i only blows cold air.even when the temp control is full at red it blows ice cold air, thanks.rod

check hot water is circulating through heater rad by feeling the inlet and outlet pipes as they come thru the bulkhead if ok it sounds like there is a control panel prob, if hot water isnt circulating make sure cooling system is bled properly, and you could try backflushing the system.

Heater warms up in morning but over the day only gives cold air despite being set at 22degrees. VW dealership says when set at 22degrees it will warm up to 30degrees and then introduce cold air to bring...

vw fit 3 types of aircon,
1.full climate control (you set temp is stays there)
2.climatronic (as your dealer said.....)
3.aircon std (cold draft)
you cannot change whats fitted to another type.

BMW series 3 fan for cabin problem

Remove the Heater / AC control unit and then check if it still runs when the car is off. If not then the control unit is faulty.

E46 Climate control blows hot air regardless of temp setting

your water controll valve located at the right side of the engine near the extreme rear end of the inlet manifold may not be working properly hence the hot air .

Replace the blower fan resistor located under passenger side of dash near center console. Updated part has larger heat sink to repair previous problem.

Aircon works but blows hot air

I had the same problem (during Summer!!) - If you take the Fan/A.C/Temp Control panel off, you'll probably find the plastic bracket that the control cable mounts to, is broken. I just used 3 zip-ties to hold everything in place. 30 minutes work, & 50c parts!! No problems since.
