I believe you may have a defective ignition switch, this is not the ignition lock cylinder but the electrical switch the key operates, the switch is attached to the lock cylinder but can be replaced separately, see photo, price around $120

Get the fuse box checked first.
Did this happen one by one or all of them went off at the same time.

Let me know...
Thanks
K

2002 chevy malibu blows 10 amp fuse seconds after start, controls ac cool fan and gas gauge and temp gauge

Are you sure ?
The gauges and the blower should be on different circuits. The blower uses a 30amp fuse or bigger.

Well you've lost power to one or two major circuits. Could be a problem with the key switch or a major fuse in the engine compartment.
I would check the fuses for power and find out which ones are dead then go from there.

2003 chevy malibu gas gauge always on empty, replaced the fuel pump

Need to replace the sensor inside the gas tank. I have a 2008 Malibu with the same problem. It was a faulty fuel gauge sensor.

Gas gauge doesn't work changed out the fuel pump or the fuel card and still don't work it's a 1999 chevy malibu

Just had a new fuel pump installed in 2002 Chevy Malibu. Worked great for about a week and then the fuel gauge started reading "empty" when the car has a full tank of gas. What happened?
