Hello,
It is manual adjustable.

Here is the photo where you can find it ("saatoruuvi"= "adjustable srew")

My pt cruiser is 2001 limited and the handbrake was pulling all the way up, there were three issues

1. the rear brake plates where the handbrake cable is attached has a small rounded dome which was worn out and had to be welded to form the rounded shape again, you can clearly see it if you remove the brake shoes there will be a worn out hole on the plate, some dont do good electric welding and it can wear out again in 12months or so, so make sure you see the welding before its pt back, it should be a small dome like shape not just a bit of spot welding

2. when the brake shoes were replaced the handbrake lever will become loose, and if ignored the lever will pull up too much and parking brake will be soft or not work at all

3. it is essential to open the 4 screws around the long console of the handbrake lever to reveal the handbrake mechanism, there are two bolts holding the lever down, easy to remove and replace if you wish, but you can detach the two rear cables and pull the cable fixed to lever as mch as possible and then insert a lock pin or thin nail to hold the spring, and then attach the two cables back and remove the pin, this will retension the spring in the lever, make sure the handbrake is bolted down when you do this, check handbrake light before returning the console back, there is cigarrete lighter cable attached to the console so just leave console on the side wheile working.

do this before buying new handbrake cables or handbrake lever

If the calipers are working properly they are self adjust for the life of the pads. If the park brake is not functioning properly maintenance is required, usually strip and clean road debris.

How do I tighten the handbrake on my Vauxhall meriva as it has stretched?

Hi,normaly if you go under the car at the back you will see the brake cable going from one wheel to the other it should have a adjusting nut and bolt which you tighten.
first pull the emergency brake on so when you pull it up it clicks free times, then go under the car and adjust untill the wheels lock, then release the emergency brake to make shore the wheels go round ok,if so job done,if not just release the juster a bit more untill its right.
there is also a item on the market that you put on the cable to take up the slack, its also valid for passing mot as well, its like a you bolt with a ajuster on it,if you asked at a spares shop they should have one,and with this job its a good idear to get some penertrating fluid as these ajusters are normaly rusted and seased up.
all the best.

HAND BRAKE AJUSTMENT for Kia Picanto can notadjust the hand brake and how do I get at the hand brake tensioner

Brakes are self adjusting whether disc or drum.
I'm guessing the fault is lack of servicing of the brakes. You shouldn't have to alter the cable adjustment to offset a brake system in poor repair. Get the brakes cleaned and correctly set and you should find the handbrake sets itself. Check the cables release properly and move freely to allow self setting to occur.

How do I tighten the hand brake cable on my 94 Toyota Tercel?

First make sure the rear breaks are ajusted or replaced when worn out drum to be skeemed aswell. Usally whe rear brakes are ajusted hand break will stop car on two to four clicks on hand brake rachet. If brakes is ajusted check cables for wear . Then ajust cable insite car remove hand brake cover and you will see a ajustable screw or nut. Rememeber to put the handbrake on four clicks and dont tighten screw or nut to much the brakes will lock

Ajusting hanbrake ford au111 2002 falcon

Hi Shannon, There is an ajustment nut at the base of the hand brake it's self, you pull the cover strait off the end of the handle and it is a 10mm nut on a treaded piece of metal rod/cable. If it's as tight as it can get you may need new brake boots for you handbrake. Just checked ebay and they are $66 plus postage for a set :)

Remember righty tighty lefty loosie :p
hope this helps :)

Replace rear brakes adjust handbrake

The hand brake hardly ever needs ajusting. See your hand brake mechanincly spreads your rear brake shose inside the drum. Therefore just replace your rear shoes and make sure there ajusted right and you should have no more problems with that part of your car. PS make sure you put some 3M paste on the contact points on your backing plate to avoid a squeak in the near future.

Rear brakes need ajustment on Buick Lesabre

I don't know if this works on a Buick but I have had two cars that the auto adjusters worked when you used the parking brake, I rarely use the parking brake so I got in the habit of working the parking brake 20 times or so at oil change time.
