  • This will not be an issue with your FOB remote. If none of the doors locked with the FOB then we could entertain that theory. The FOB sends a HALO signal and unlock all doors at once. It cannot open three doors and not one. It don't work like that.

  • First thing is have you sat in the drivers seat and tried the lock with the master control (drivers seat controls for all window and door lock)?
  • There is power to all other door locks so no fuse or relay issue.

  • The problem is one door and one door only which locks and unlocks manually with the key. So I can say right off the bat this is not a mechanical issue.

  • I would be willing to bet the door lock switch for the drivers door (on the car itself) is not working either. That combine with the fact that you have been having problems with the door harness tells me someone missed a wire somewhere that runs the power for the drivers door lock OR that ground wire in that harness is starting to be split. Normally with a ground wire issue you will get random acts of power in the cabin. IE your dome lights stay on for some reason. That does not exclude a ground wire though.

  • When you open the drivers door you can take notice to the harness that stretches between the door frame and the drivers door. This is the harness that holds all the door lock, door chimes, dome lights, etc wires. If this is the harness that some one just rewired for you then take it back and have them get it right this time. The wires in that harness brake from time to time because of the location and the frequent open and close of the drivers door. The get kinked and dried up and split or break inside the insulation. As you said that it starter out working sometimes and now not at all. That because that wire finally split and need spliced and repaired. That's how it works.

  • You yourself can carefully splice that harness open and this will expose all the wires and look for a split wire. Sometimes the wire brake in the insulation and you have to feel real good. Sometimes you have to remove the boot holding the harness in place on the door frame and the door itself to get a better look in there to find the wire. Buy that's your problem.

  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

Regards, Tony

SOURCE: need battery replaced or recharged for my remote

Should be able to get a battery for it at the dealer. May try place like batteries plus also. You may need to get it reproggrammed after replacement, which would be dealership only.

How do I replace the battery on a key remote for a Mazda cx9 year 2012

Flip open key. With small tweezers, file, or jewellers screwdriver, depress release button found in key-slot (near the end of the fob with the key on it. Pull two halves of fob apart. Separate the remaining fob in half again (the part without the key) by prying in the slot on the open end. Replace battery. Reassemble.

I have a 1997 vw cabrio. i replaced my battery n when i hook up the battery my alarm goes off n my driver side lock cylinder fell out how do i disarm my alarm?

You need to bypass the alarm if you do not have the remote to disable it and the key lock fell out. I have posted multiple times about how to bypass the stock alarm and still have everything work. If you need any help on doing this please feel free to message me.

I have a 1996 Mercedes C220 and I replaced batteries on the remote because they were dead. Well at least I hope it was that and the remote isn't messed up. It's the key that flips out. I wanted to...

They are mated, there is no need to reprogram them. I assume that the key starts the car and the problem you are having is that the remote does not lock and unlock the doors. If you have a second key and it works properly then your first key/remote is broken or you have the new batteries in wrong. If you push and hold one of the buttons there should be a light that flashes on the remote. (some do not have this). A replacement remote has to be ordered at the dealer and will either come pre-programmed for your car, or they will do it when the key shows up. Nothing the home user can do here really.

Alarm on my 1998 vw sharan keeps sounding off and the drivers door sometimes willnot lock with remote///////can i disable it ////can iturn alarm sensor down so its not so sensitive/////please help its...

When did you last change the battery in your remote key fob. As strange as this may sound, if your battery is slightly down in power, it will not give a full signal to your alarm/imobiliser/central locking. Because you are begining to have problems with your remote central locking, this is a good indication that this could be your problem. You can get a battery anywhere, but they are only pennies from your local VW dealer.

Need to change the hand-set remote battery

To replace the battery:
1. Press the button to flip out the key.
2. Turn the key fob so the metal key stick out to the right and the channel that the key fits into is facing you. (The VW logo on the fob will be facing up)
3. Look closely inside the channel. It is split vertically. On the left hand side of the vertical split, it is also split horizontally.
4. Insert a flat blade screwdriver into the horizontal split and twist. They key fob will come apart, revealing the battery.
5. The replacement battery is a 3 volt CR2032 'button cell' and is commonly available.
6. Replace the battery with the + side facing down.

VW Jetta keyless entry remote not working

newer remotes just pull apart, no screws

first detached the half with the pivoting key
just pull that half away from the other half

on the half without the key attach
it splits apart to expose the battery (usually a 2032 watch battery)
you may need a small flat head screw driver to help to split it apart

The battery in my VW key fob is dead, now I cant start the engine

No. VW has made it nearly impossible to solve any key-related problems without a costly visit to the dealership. Battery must be replaced, and I assure you. the dealership will advise you that the ONLY place that you can find that particular battery is from the dealership. They like it that way.

How do you change battery in key fob on 2002 vw golf

No problem. The key fob is two pieces. The key part and the remote. Open the key as you would to sue it. Where the key flips open you can see a small recess about where the line of the trunck switch. This is where the key separates. You can pull it off or pry it with a small screwdriver. Once separated with remote part in your hand this also splits in 2. In the same area you split the key off insert the screwdriver in this recess and the fob will open giving you access to the battery. Also can be done by hand. It is a little tight so you will have to force which is normal. No screws just clipped. Make sure the battery is positioned in the right way and that you have 3 volts when you test the battery. 2.7 volts will make the remote not work or act funny.
