How do you turn the sound on if mute is on MMI sound system?

I have a 2006 A6, and my husband who took the car on a trip called and said the radio is showing on the MMI screen as on and phone calls via bluetooth show they are coming in, but there is a line through the sound icon/on mute and he does not know how to get the mute off> Since I am not there, I cannot walk him through the process. How does one remove Mute?

Depress the volume bottom or rotate the volume knob. When on a Bluetooth phone call, the speaker symbol will mute, but unmute when the call ends. Either rolling the right steering wheel scroll or the volume button on the shifter area will should unmute the radio volume.

On my 2009 Q7 the following procedure did the trick:
- Mute your Blootooth phone while away from the car
- Connect to the car with your phone now
- Unmute the speakers on your phone while in the car
- Make a phone call. The MMI speakers should work as normal
- Turn on the volume now on MMI

I think this was the exact sequence, but I might be wrong with some of the last 2 steps. I think the MMI was originally muted by my (Nexus One) Android phone while it was connection to the care with a muted speaker.

I hope this helps.

Look at your MMI in there go to settings and check that your locking is to all doors in the MMI you can set what you like and what door to lock your Drivers door lock may be switched off just change it to on and it will work.

Hi my MMI system on 2004 A6 asgone dead, no power

No solution, same problem, but had many strange moments: 4 months ago during 100 kms or so it stopped, then suddenly came back, and worked ever since. A few days ago, it started happening again: NAV stuck, then radio dead, and gradually the rest disappeared. I did a Reset, and since that moment I see the intro-screen and then it goes black. Hitting the TEL button is somehow also a Reset...

Do the previous 2 posters have anything to report on this matter? It would be VERY welcome!

Thanks,
Jeff

I had this problem as well. Turns out there is a Technical Service Bulletin involving a leak in the rear window washer fluid line. It leaks at the rear door hinge (left) and that washer fluid runs down onto the radio stack in the Left Hand wheel-well compartment. It shorts out the system until it dries. My dealer fixed / replaced the hose at his expense. Haven't had the problem since.

I've been having this problem also. I took it to the dealer and they had to load a new update for the mmi system. Luckily mine is covered under warranty.

The other solution is to turn the car off and disconect the car battery for 10 minutes-and then the mmi will reset itself. The problem, however, is that the issue will probably happen again.

06 A6 MMI radio switches on and off every few seconds. Bluetooth

Your most (fiber optic) system is inoperative. Its most likely your CD player and the bluetooth is an update issue, if it doesn't take the update then you need to replace your telephone transceiver.

Audi A6 Y. 2006

First push the setup button on the MMI control, and push the MMI button that corresponds to the word "settings" on the screen, and pick "time," push the master control to enter that mode, then turn the knob to change the time. Be sure to back out of the sequence properly or the clock reverts to the previous setting.
