Usually when cooling system components fail multiple times it can be the sign of a blown head gasket. you can pick up a tool that will check to see if there are combustion gases in your cooling system.also you can pressurize the system to see if the head gasket has failed and is leaking into the engine.

Losing water from radiator and expansion tank every other day on my nissan x trail 2002 model 2lt petrol

Have to stop using it if ANY coolant leaks from Anywhere

I just replaced a cracked & leaking plastic tank on a Lincoln

I got them from a dealer not some thin aftermarket piece

Two were no good & that is the first time in 50 years, in the
business I had to do a job 2 1/2 times & tie up a vehicle for
5 weeks

That said I have 2014 Nissan Frontier-no issues yet

I suggest you be specific here

The expansion tank,degas bottle,coolant overflow,are all the
same thing as I had to deal with in Oct

They can & do get hard & crack after ten years & it apparently
is not all the uncommon, just never saw many myself

If that is leaking you would see it and replace it,(dealer part only)

2002 vehicle-you have to tell us & look yourself

Does the radiator leak?
If so replace it,it is not serviceable & is what
you will have to also replace
It is 13 or 14 years old & near done anyway

I just lost power in a snow storm here & still have your
question & now the other responses

I got thinking differently then they did

These questions are hard to understand for lack of detail

It could be as was said, a head gasket & the coolant
goes out the exhaust, then you come here & say it's not in
the tank or radiator & we have no idea what your saying

Coolant is Low but there is no leak.

Since the cooling system is sealed, if there is no external leak, the engine may be burning coolant out the tail pipe due to a leaking head gasket.
You may want to try a different shop for a second opinion.

A few weeks ago I had the upper hose go on me. It had a hole in it and leaked out all my coolant. My husband (while helping change the hose) gave it a big **** and ended up cracking my radiator. I had that...

Hi, you wern`t clear on the year and model of your Honda, and was the radiator and hose replaced by a sevice shop or yourselves? Possible causes of your car overheating may be caused by not ``bleeding`` the air out of the cooling system properly. Another problem may be a malfunctioning thermostsat, another problem may be the Electric rad fan not cycling on. There could be a few more causes but I would have to know more details of your car as mentioned above..

I have 98 neon 2.2L DOHC that uses coolant, just a little every time I drive it, I don't see any leaks and no coolant in the oil and cannot smell any coolant in the exhaust. Will have to add about a quart...

I would1st Pressure test the cooling system for leaks. Also, be sure to pressure
test the Radiator cap as well.
Assuming pressure testing the system shows no leaks, and if your radiator cap is
2 or more years old, then most likely your radiator cap is defective. Replace it!

2003 saturn ion adding antifreeze every 2 weeks cannot find leak

There should be a radiator cap as it controls what goes into the overfill tank. You might consider replacing it. If there are no leaks in the radiator or hoses, there are only 3 places the coolant can go (water pump leak, blown gasket, or out throught the radiator cap). Hope its the cap because that's the cheapest. Good luck!

Saturn has been going through coolant very fast. Leak? radiator?

1. Obviously there is major leak in the cooling system and you will need to rectify this before you cook your engine.

2. The radiator, all coolant hoses and hose connections need to be checked including the heater hoses. If you cannot locate the source of the leak yourself you will need to take it to a mechanic to check. He will pressure test the system.
Hopefully it is just a perished hose that is letting coolant escape and if so this will not be expensive to fix.

If the radiator has a leak, which is common in older vehicles, you will have to invest in a replacement unit.
If all flexible hoses on the cooling system are old you should, in any event, replace all of them as preventative maintenance.

3. The worst problem you could have is a faulty head gasket which is allowing coolant to escape under pressure into the engine cavities including the cylinders. Check your oil on the dip stick and if you can see a whitish substance in the oil you have coolant leakage. This will be expensive to fix as the head on the engine will need to be removed.

4. You should not be driving the car whilst it is losing coolant so quickly as you are risking very expensive engine damage from overheating.

Coolant leak

Had this same problem. The plenum has a coolant port for the EGR valve which lets in a small amount of coolant. The intake plenum is plastic and will leak coolant into the lower manifold. You will need to replace the warped leaking plenum with a new one, flush the engine, Coolant DOES NOT LUBRICATE THE MOTOR!!! CHANgE OIL & FILTER.I did this myself, lots of stuff to remove & replace. Runs like new after replacing the plenum.
