Question about 1998 Jaguar XJ8L

1 Answer

I need instructions on installing a water pump for a 1998 jaguar xj8. Also how to replace a fuel pump? I keep getting the coolant light on even though it is full, and today I noticed vapor coming out of the fron? Does not that mean the water pump is not working?

Security is set. Could be one problem. Fuel system can do this, but rarely. Takes a scanner to see where to look first.

Need to change fuel pump on 1999 xj8 jag

Hi ,
Fuel pumps are no always straight forward, they sometimes retain fuel under pressure and have to be discharged in order to be replaced. If your so sure it's gone (not an easy diagnosis) the replacement instructions will be on the replacement pump instructions or an owners manual. DON'T TAKE CHANCES WITH PRESSURISED FUEL ! Good Luck

Need to replace fuel pump on a 1999 jaguar xj8. where is the pump located and can u get 2 it through the back seat or do u have to drop the gas tank.

Typically Jaguar fuel pumps are the submerged type (i.e. in the fuel tank) so you will need to remove the fuel tank or there might be a panel in the the tank that you can remove to get the the fuel pump. Good luck.

No heat in car until its 200rpm then perfect

Low coolant level will cause this condition. Check and fill if necessary. Start simple, if that's not it, let me know.

You might need a lube job or you may need to see if noise is coming from another place such as your engine water pump, brakes, power steering. Look for leaks.

1998 xj8 heater only works when engine at higher revs

There is an Electic Water Pump for the Heater that is located under the hood near the left fenderwell. If it's not a fuse, then likely, this pump is bad. Mine went bad in my 1999 Jaguar XJR. It runs close to $400 for the pump, so hopefully that's not the problem. Price does not include labor.

Since I'm comfortable with Electronics, I replaced the brushes in my motor and it works fine now. Heat all the time and only cost $1.00 You may be able to find a shop to rebuild the motor for you at a fraction of the cost.

1999 JAGUAR XJ8 L HAS NO HEAT

There is an electric auxiliary water pump for the heater near the bulkhead. This is likely to be seized and may require replacement, quite a common fault!
