What can cause my truck to hesitate at low rpms but idle fine and run fine at higher rpms?

-There is couple things cause that. Possibly:
-Spark plug too dirty, pack w/carbon, oil.
-Broken plug wire.
-Bad injector.
-dirty air flow sensor.

Good luck

I have a 1979 f150. When I put the transmission in drive it does not respond until I press the gas pedal at a higher rpm. When it does respond it shifts great. What could be the problem and if I can't...

does it only do it when you initailly put it in drive?? or does it do it also when you stop at a light and try in take off?? sounds like the torque converter is draining back...and it needs to refill before it will move.. probably doesnt have anything to do with higher rpms, just refillling... when you first start it up put it in drive, then reverse, then drive then reverse, then drive, and see if it will move without higher rpms... if it engauges fine when you do this, the torque converter is draining back... not much you can do about that.. not sure if that truck has a one way valve in the trans line or not...some were installed in the lines to keep fluid from draining back.

Hesitation when going from reverse to drive

The first thing you need to do is check to see if the fluid level is good. engine running and at normal operating temp and in neutral. make sure you set the parking brake or have someone else hold the brake so you dont get run over.
