Power loss & Fouling Plugs on an 75' IH Scout

I've got a 1975 IH Scout. It was sitting on our ranch for a few years. Then i started to work on it, a few months later it ran. Mild problems here and there, but nothing real bad. A few months back however, around october or november, it started to have a loss of power, extreme loss of power. I had to stand on the pedal to go 30 mph, literally. Now I still have that problem, but also about every time I drive it, the plugs foul. I the vaccum advance is messed up, and thats the power loss, and also that the Electric Fuel pump screwed up the seat in the carb, which messed up the float and is now letting to much fuel in. Which attribute for the fouling spark plugs and other problems like gas in the oil. I think. But im not expert, Please help. Any advice is appreciated.

Sounds like you are on the right track, except that the vacuum advance won't give you the radical symptoms you have. I'd take the carb apart and clean it out. likely the power valve is gummed up and could also be the needle & seat are worn. Make sure you find a good rebuild kit before taking it apart though...the gaskets are likely dried out & will break.
After all this time it's possible that your float maybe sinking. I've seen this happen before. If you have one of those litle generic fuel pumps likely it cant make more than 5psi on it's best day, so I don't think it will blow the needle off the seat.
Yes...change your oil & plugs after youv'e finished and don't drive it with fuel in the oil.

I have a 1994 Chevy C1500 w/ 4.3 liter and my plugs are fouling out about every 500 miles or less and everything else maintanence wise I've replaced resently. Can someone give an idea on what need

Does the truck run right? Does it smell real gassy, fuel mileage go south? If it is fouling plugs that fast it either has to be burning a lot of fuel or oil. Is there a check engine light on? Engine wore out, burning a lot of oil. Fuel injector stuck, using a lot of gas. Air filter dirty, making it burn way rich. I would think this truck would really smell bad if it is fouling out the plugs that fast.

Hello jonbon742, if you haven't already, change your air filter. 75% of the time when people have the symtoms you do it is caused by the air filter.
Best of luck my friend!

Intermittent poor acceleration, loss of power. Has new plugs, ignition module, crank sensor, fuel filter. Plug wires 1 year old. Have tried mass air flow sensor, coil packs. Fuel pressure was monitored and...

Regardless of age, battery discharging first needs to be addressed and fixed - bad battery or something in car (like a light) may be staying on when car is shut off.
Fuel pressure is too low - should be around 50psi and may be caused by an intermittent fuel pump or regulator problem.
The cause of the other problems is usually with the IAC or MAF sensors or the EGR valve - fouling at the EGR, IAC and/or throttle body is to be expected for a car this old.

Car sitting for a year

If you didnt let it set on wooden blocks or similar, tires are probably shot, even if inflated. 1st time the engine starts over, it will be on dry cylinders, without oil, and will scratch the cylinder walls. Pull the plugs, pour a tad of oil in the cylinder, and put back the old plugs. It wont be easy to start, due to fouling, so have a new set of plugs as standby, but the cylinder sleeve and piston rings will be protected before that first start.

Loss of power

coil pack, spark plugs, plug wires. in that order. inspect coils, look discoloration on the back side. look for fouling on plugs.and when you get the car running spray salt water on wires to see if arcing. and use oem or performance parts. cheap aftermarket will only cause more problems.
